Re: A Bolt owner has i3 regrets sometimes

Does anyone have an explanation as to why BMW makes it prohibitive for the original lessee to buy the residual, but then puts them out on auction, where they often end up retailing for much less than the residual? jack vines At the end of my 2014 i3's 30 month lease last August, my residual was $29...

Re: The pains of finding wiper blades for the i3.

... If your i3 does not have the Technology Package (Adaptive Cruise Control), then don't worry about that, as the 28-inch wipers clear a plenty big enough sight area, and also cover the auto wiper sensor. ... Just a nit, but I think the auto-wipe sensing is done with a microphone listening for rai...

Re: Final service visit of our maintenance plan

On the other hand, when my 12V battery started going bad 2 months past warranty, my dealer quoted me almost $300 to replace, but when I went in to pick up the car, they told me BMW picked up the replacement under warranty.

Re: LED light door handles not working nor blue interior lights.

I keep hearing that people's i3's have interior lights that are blue and light up door handles, but I've never seen that on mine. What am I missing? I have a 2016 with Deka World and Parking Assist Package. The door handles physically do have LED lights as I can see them on there underneath but I'v...

i3 12V battery replaced

I started getting frequent battery discharging notices on the display when starting the car. Figured out it was the 12V AGM battery. I called my BMW Center for a price on the replacement battery for my barely over 4 year old i3. They quoted me $365 parts and labor, and confirmed it was out of warran...

Re: Is the maintenance plan worth $600?

$600 for 3 dealer oil and filter changes is not a bad deal and if you need brakes, it's a great deal. First of all, $200 for a single oil change is NUTS! "Not bad" would be $50, even at a premium dealer. Keep in mind that the REX uses less oil than most small cars, and access is not at al...

Re: Four years with the i3

I picked up my i3 less than a month after you, in August of 2014. Mine is a BEV. I, too, am pretty much as happy with the car now as when I got it. It is damn near the perfect city car for me, and like you, I live in the suburbs. However, my big city, Phoenix, is a bit smaller, and that is perhaps w...

Re: 2015 i3 Battery Degradation (20% after 30k miles)

The Batt. Kapa Max. on my i3 service menu is 15.9 kWh, or 80% of new spec of 19.8, and even less of actual when new, which was just over 20. My '14 i3 BEV is just shy of 30K miles. I live in the Phoenix desert, but the i3 is rarely parked outside, and the garage rarely gets much above 90 degrees. In...

Somehow "BMW has a reason" rings about as insightful as "God works in mysterious ways."

The Giga world gray steering wheel is also leather. At least mine most definitely is!
