Re: BMW UK i3 REx without plugging in?

Oh dear........ Thanks for the replies guys. Currently, plugging in at home would require the cable to cross a public pavement which wouldn't be allowed. The nearest "fast" charge station would be the BMW dealership (9 very slow/ heavily congested miles away). I do live opposite a petrol ...

Re: BMW UK i3 REx without plugging in?

Any significant rise in demand on the National Grid due to the rapidly increasing number of electric plug-ins, only increases the use of "dirty" fossil fuels to balance supply. Thanks, Peter You do realise with those dirty fossil fuels that an i3 powere by just coal fired electricity is s...

Re: how many with zero i3 problems?

Similar here. 15,000 miles sicne Jan. No serious problems. Things maybe worth mentioning are: 1) Chipped the windscreen in May, which lead to a crack. Been waiting months for a large company that deals with windscreen replacements to get it sorted. 1st one failed QC the day it was due to be fitted. ...

Re: I think I hate my i3 Rex...

Things are getting even better. Today... Full charge with precon and full REX this morning. 96 on the REX and 84 on Battery. Got to work after doing 43 miles and it said 70 on the REX and 22 on battery. Despite not using any fuel :( Charge to 100% at work 43 miles back home and it said 105 on the RE...

Re: Use of bmw for longer journeys

You can rent a Corsa for £19 per day. IF you need one. That's better than joining the BMW progamme and paying out for something you might use. And if you do it costs a lot more than the equivalent of a Corsa. About £100 a day for a 3 seires IIRC. Plus Having to drive a Corsa will make you want to ge...

Re: REx Gas Usage

The fastest way to cover ground is to do both, that way every other stop is on the roadside and only takes 5 minutes. Then when you get off the Hiway to refuel the REx you can fill the aux tank too. Remember to exit the car through the pax door that way the car won't shut off and you won't lose you...

Re: I think I hate my i3 Rex...

Now the weather has got above 15 degrees C, my range in EcoPro+ is showing just over 80 on battery plus just over 80 from the REX. Take off a little bit for the US tank size and "upto" 150 miles is certainly achievable. If you drive in Comfort with the heating on and do 75 on the motorway ...

Re: first time refueling attempt details

The one tip - is if you are leaving the car while on holiday make sure it has 25-75% so even with a bit of battery drain (theft alarm/connected drive messaging) it won't reach minimum level. Personally I'd charge to 75% so when I get back I don't have to wait for it to charge to drive again. BMW ma...

Re: How often to recharge?

A rough workaround to this is set the time to use off peak charging - and tell it off peak starts a hour before you leave. On a 7kW charger - you'll get about 7kWh in 1 hours charging ;-) Personally at the weekend I don't bother plugging in as I only do about 50 miles here and there, but Sun-Thu nig...

Re: BMW R&D Boss - "...very hard to replace the batteries...

People always talk about battery upgrade. But its just like any other car and parts from models above it. Take a 328 and a M3, upgrading the 328 to M3 is expensive, complicated. Or upgrading EFI to direct injection from a new model. Almost not possible. So why would it be any different with a EV? F...
