Re: Will a 2014 be okay?

Fully agree with everything said above. As long as the vehicle has gone through all service recalls and software updates were applied the car should be fine from this perspective. Ours is just over 3 years from new now and plan is to keep it for at least another 2-3 years. The 65-85mi range electric...

Re: i3 is over

I still contend, an i3, used as designed, has plenty of battery capacity. The increased cost, weight, charging time of larger battery packs isn't useful. Now, if the car were designed for longer trips, obviously, a larger battery would be required, but IMHO, it would require a different vehicle des...

Re: battery degradation after 3 years

I'm told that battery kappa varies depending on temperature. I too have a 2014 i3. Mine has 22,000 miles. Last time I measured kappa it was 19.2. That was when it was 70 degrees F out. I've noticed that the max mileage displayed used to be 65mi when 100% in cold UK winter conditions (0 - 2 deg C, p...

battery degradation after 3 years

We've had our Rex for almost 3 years now (40,000 miles) and I've done the "battery capacity max" check in the System Menu for the first time. It read 16.9 kWh, which is down 2.5 kWh from the original 19.4 kWh. The car is currently with my BW dealership for MOT and a end-of-warranty check. ...

Re: depreciation of the i3

When I bought our i3 Rex I knew full well that I would have to keep it for at least 5 years to ride out some of the depreciation. Three years into now owning it outright, I think we'll keep it for at least another 3 years. Despite the higher purchasing price, it has so far been a very economical car...

Re: Any one here ordered a Tesla Model 3?

They're quite different cars. It really depends on what you intend to use them for. The i3 is smaller, more maneuverable, but definitely does not have the range. While both are comfortable for four people, you can get a fifth in Tesla. The i3 would probably win on the largest item you can fit, but ...

Pretty much my thinking, too. Out i3 with its current range fits our requirements perfectly. As you say, once it becomes too expensive to maintain, we might go for a second hand 2nd gen BEV or REx.

Re: Stop sale affecting used i3 pricing?

Sadly, as with any used electric vehicle, every day that passes the car's technology becomes that much more outdated. In fact, I think the whole i3 line (even the new ones) now compete poorly with the Chevy Bolt and the Tesla Model 3, even just in terms of range. Therefore the amount I am personall...

Re: BMW i3 To Get 43.2 kWh Battery Pack In Late 2018 (Rumor)

I've made enquiries re a battery upgrade at a BMW dealership in my hometown in Germany. I went over from the UK for a family visit. https://speakev.com/threads/price-for-fitting-a-94ah-i3-battery-in-germany.38049/ Can be done in 4hrs, had been done before by this particular dealer and can be done fo...

Re: How much more are these going to depreciate?

What kind of ks are you achieving in your 225xe. As of this week my 225xe has covered 20,000k and 14,000k of the 20k is battery. Saved 980 litres of petrol. The 225xe is on 19.2k miles now. The i3 just under 38.9k miles. Combined annual mileage is about 25k miles. £800-£900 of annual fuel savings i...
