Re: Coding the i3

For many months, changing the number of "lane change" turn signal flashes from 3 to 5 via coding hasn't worked for most i3 drivers. A Facebook i3 group member discovered that resetting the driver profiles after changing the coding will change the number of "lane change" turn sign...

Re: I3 eventually

The 550iGT has a gas engine, the REX does not. There's no correlation and therefore nothing to be concerned about as far as that goes. Maybe you didn't write what you meant to write or I don't understand what you wrote. The REx engine is a 2-cylinder gasoline engine, certainly much smaller than a 5...

Re: Car-jacking that ended in hours

I am curious , why - LTE/GPRS connection doesn't work while the car is moving ) i belive i read in manual) ? I know that in early i3's, the data connection is 3G, not LTE. Maybe that's changed in later models. I cannot think of any reason why ? ( other than to reduce data transfer cost ) Maybe to p...

Re: Regen and front wheels

I read and understand , below 12 miles, the regen is not actual regn, but brake, as with low rotation or voltage , they cannot regen It is certainly true that regen braking power decreases as the rotational speed of the motor decreases such that regen braking power alone is almost certainly insuffi...

To be clear, all i3's except the BEV model with pizza slice (#427) wheels have staggered wheels and tires.

Re: Soon to be 2015 i3 REX owner low miles, purchase, BIMMER CODER?

1. Download Bimmer Code. 2. Pay to use it. It's a high price for an app, but it's worth it for what you're trying to do. 3. Go on ebay and look for a wifi enabled OBD II reader. Many OBD dongles respond too slowly to work with BimmerCode, so buying a random OBD dongle on eBay could result in Bimmer...

The 94 Ah BEV is significantly lighter than the 60 Ah REx, so I would be surprised if the 120 Ah BEV is heavier than the 94 Ah REx.

Re: Buying new i3 / not available to order

In the States, they're $60-70k USD when optioned. I just built on the BMW USA Website the least expensive 2019 i3 BEV with no options and the most expensive 2019 i3S REx with every option available. The MSRP totals were $44.5k and $60.6k including destination charge. Only fools pay MSRP. So your ne...

Re: Does Cell balancing happen on level 1 charging?

Unfortunately, BMW has not explained how the i3's cell balancing works. The i3's cell balancing is reported to be the less expensive passive variety. Passive balancing generally works by discharging cells with higher voltages until the voltages of all cells have been equalized. I have read conflicti...

Re: How many have had the drive train malfunction error?

They gave me a loaner and towing was free (dragged my car out of my garage - that's a whole other story), but just called to remind me that the 12v battery isn't covered under the warrany and it will be just shy of $600 to replace. I hope that's Canadian dollars! If not, that's truly highway robber...
