Re: Brake fluid change

Only the very first i3's sold in the USA wouldn't be still in warranty... BMW began limiting the i3's 4 year maintenance coverage to original owners only. That change occurred after the 2014 models, but I'm not sure exactly when. As a result, there are increasing numbers of used i3 purchasers who d...

Re: battery degradation after 3 years

The stated usable capacity of the 60 Ah battery pack is 18.8, not 19.4 kWh. With the 30% capacity degradation limit in the U.S. battery pack warranty, the usable capacity would need to be less than 18.8 * 0.7 = 13.2 kWh for a warranty claim to be made. Batt. Kapa. max on our 2014 i3 BEV have varied ...

Re: Coding the i3

Anyone in the NYC/long island area have the tools necessary for this coding? Would love to do some of this coding on my i3 Any help would be greatly appreciated! If you have an iOS or Android device, you could code your i3 yourself. Download and activate the BimmerCode app and order a Vgate iCar 2 ...

Re: REX Unit Fuel Capacity

Today I had a chance to code my 2018 i3. Under “Increase fuel capacity” the original parameter was “unknown value”. I hit “active” and then “code”. After coding completed the fuel bar on the cluster has no change. In the app “unknown value” is gone, and “active” is the only option. These may all me...

"batterietemp" is item 14.05 in the Service Menu. Search for "service menu" to learn how to access it.

Re: Any one here ordered a Tesla Model 3?

Good luck selling or servicing a Tesla if the company goes out of business. You would have to be finically illiterate to buy into Tesla cult hype. Should Tesla fail as a business, the remnants would almost certainly be purchased by other companies. Tesla has developed too much valuable tech to just...

Re: i3 REX unit - Fuel surge valve

it appears that the software updates helped the car's performance. I will let you know. It now is a bit faster, with more range. A software update can delete the driving history upon which range estimates are calculated. Many i3 owners have reported a greater range estimate (not to be confused with...

Re: Can't charge level 2

I can see on the screen it says level 1 charging information. What screen shows Level 1 charging information? I donʻt believe a TurboCord has a screen, and I haven't seen any AC Level 1/AC Level 2/DC Level 1/DC Level 2 information on either of the i3's screens while charging. Maybe I missed it. iDr...

Re: Can't charge level 2

Had an electrician install a 240v outlet and am using the turbocord charger that is plugged into the 240v outlet with the adapter. Light is blue. When i plug in, the car starts to charge right away and stay in level 1 all night even though i have departure time and low cost charging set from 12am t...

Re: REX Unit Fuel Capacity

I am in Canada and was told we have American version, in which the tank is limited to 1.9 gal. I am trying to figure it out but don't know how. 2014-2016 North American i3 REx's have their fuel tank capacity software-limited to ~1.9 gal. This software limit can be eliminated by coding. 2017 North A...
