Re: New i3 owner from TX

Electronic devices tend to fail during power on cycling. Note, though, that that exposes them to power line anomalies that can also cause damage long-term. This is one reason why a whole house surge suppressor is useful. Some products include inlet power conditioning circuits, but not all. IMHO, it...

Re: Future owner complete newbie needs pre-purchase info.

Look at the tread life left on the tires. That would be the deciding factor for me, assuming I was OK with the options on both.

Re: Just got a CPO 2015 Giga REx

Congrats. You'll love it. You might want to consider getting the bimmercode app (with associated connectors) so you can program hold state of charge. And the plug share app also.

Get the plugshare app for your phone. It shows public charging stations so you know where you can get a charge.

Re: Future owner complete newbie needs pre-purchase info.

Ok, let's talk about batteries. Yes, the 2016 and below have a smaller battery. 2017 and 2018 have a larger battery, and 2019 is larger still. Range is dependent on conditions (temperature, wind resistance, speed, amount of uphill driving, etc). So the stated 80 mile range on the smallest battery is...

Re: Next model after 120ah i3

Highly unlikely. I seriously doubt the i3 will be made after 2020 model year. BMW is moving their EV technology to more conventional cars (4 series, X3, etc).

Re: Chevy Volt Discontinued

The Volt was a good gateway car to BEV's. It showed people that 30-40 miles of battery range is really all they need around town. It's sad to see it go. Similar story for the i3 REx. BMW is not going to sell the REx in Europe anymore. I bought the i3 Rex because I had range anxiety. No more. My next...

Re: Help with Public Charging Cable for i3 60AH

First, a little terminology help. The charger is located in your car. The device you use to supply power to your car is called a EVSE. Most people, including me, make the mistake of calling the EVSE a charger, but that's not technically correct. I'm not sure what you're asking. All the public chargi...

Re: How to get best price on CPO i3?

The method MKH used is the best way to pick up a used i3, although the CPO warranty won't apply. IMO, CPO is over rated, especially on an EV since there's not that much to go wrong.
