Re: Why is the charging door so big?

Ok, think I found out why - The Chademo port for the Japanese market is pretty big...especially since it requires it own sealed flap....

Why is the charging door so big?

While pluging in the i3 last night, it occurred to me that the charging door/flap is pretty huge...any guesses on why it is oversized?

I don't know whether these lights are standard on all trim levels. Our 2014 U.S. Giga World has them.

Can confirm this works on 2015 Mega and 2015 Terra Trims

Re: Advice on CEL, recent problems

I used it several times on longer trips. After about 20 min of working it threw CELs which usually cleared. I had the dealer check the car and it was OK until the last time when with the CEL it also shut down the REX and I had not enough charge to reach home. However, stopping and restarting fixed ...

Re: steering Wheel became Hard to turn

There have been quite a few reports of this problem, but only recently which makes me suspect a bug in a recent system software version. It might be time to start reporting these incidents to the NHTSA to get BMW's attention and hopefully a fix. I think you may be right on this. This has happened t...

This is one of the CEL's that one shouldn't worry about. I had an issue that started with a CEL and ended up having to replace the REX engine (under warranty) :-).

Wow - on average how much were you using (or not using) the REx to have the engine replaced?

Re: [HELP] 10K difference on comparable CPO i3s from same dealer

I think they made pricing errors with the Mega - that is waay above normal pricing...maybe call in to check on that... Also, if it is important to you - read up on the updates on the CA HOV rules - not sure how it would impact you if one had it and the other didnt.... If you can, shop around - there...

Re: 2019 BMW i3 REx will have a larger tank?

My 2017 i3 Rex was not, built mid year 2017 I think. Is yours a 33ah variant? - it looks like all the 33ah variants had 2.3 gallon tanks: http://www.mybmwi3.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4979 From wikipedia, the Rex range extended in the 2017 model, by a whopping 5 miles, assuming the loss in range exp...

Re: 2019 BMW i3 REx will have a larger tank?

Maybe they are just unlocking it to 2.4g like most of us have already. Perhaps what they are saying is the Rex will have the same % range increase not the same total mile range as the battery. It looks like on the 2017 and newer models (33ah), the REx tank is coded to be 2.3/4 gallons from the fact...

2019 BMW i3 REx will have a larger tank?

From this article: https://www.autoblog.com/2018/09/28/bmw-i3-ev-range-increase-for-2019/ BMW is extending the i3's range for the 2019 model year to 153 miles through the use of a new battery cell. Range for the i3s is expected to be the same 153 miles, too. That represents an almost 35 percent incr...
