Re: Adding subwoofer to a base non-HK system?

The "head unit" is underneath the rear seat. I do not know how much that differs in a base vs Harman system. I do not believe there is any pre-out, but you could take a look underneath there.

Ugh. More misfires. (Drivetrain error)

At first I thought the misfiring when starting the REx was a random event, but I've now decided that it seems to only happen on a cold start, and only when the ambient temperature is cold. Once the engine is warmed up, it can be stopped, and restarted without issue. Usually when this happens, the ca...

Re: How do you run the heating or radio without starting the car?

You can use the radio by pressing on the radio volume knob. To turn the climate control on you do need to press "start stop", or I guess you could use the BMW Connected app to start that. Once you have turned on accessories mode with the start stop button, you can go to settings -> Climate...

Re: Next model after 120ah i3

The CCS chargers in my area with the exception of one all have some sort of business implication tied to them. We have plenty of Nissan dealers that have CHAdeMO/CCS units to help them sell new LEAFs. There's are free, though I've noticed they don't care about the condition of the equipment. We also...

Re: Winter traction in an i3

That's great information Jim! Right now I'm trying to decide if I should bite the bullet and buy the R3s, or ride out the rest of this season on my Blizzaks. It snowed heavy again today (still going at it right now), and I found my slipping a little bit more than I expected. Today I hit a curb at 5M...

Re: Winter traction in an i3

Seems like both of you guys are hinting I should replace my tires at the end of this season. Maybe there will be some good off season deals on Hakkapeliitta R3s. When I pulled the tires out of storage they seemed a little bit more worn than I remembered. - the original rubber on the tires switches c...

Re: Trip meter / odometer mile change discrepancy.

My guess is Art is fairly accurate in how it measures things. Since speedos can vary a bit from the actual speed (by ± 2-3mi ) I always considered the odometer to be a "fairly accurate estimate". In iDrive you can change the units to be kilometers. which changes the odometer to be in km, a...

Winter traction in an i3

Last week I put the Blizzaks on.I got to have a little experience with snow, but nothing too major. Today, however I drove 100 miles through snow and ice. I used the "TRACTION" mode (Limited DSC mode) the whole time. My thoughts: 1. Watch the under steer. With the i3 it's really easy to tu...

Re: Chevy Volt Discontinued

My neighbor has a Chevy Volt that I have driven before. I like the car, it's by far one of my favorite PHEVs. I'm not a big fan of the current crop of PHEVs, maybe I've just been too spoiled by the i3's ~80mile range. If I had a Volt as a daily driver, I'd wouldn't have range anxiety, but I would ha...

Re: How many miles do you have on your i3?

33,000 miles on my 2014 REX, it had around 16k when I bought it as a CPO last year. The only repair was an new climate control panel under warranty, the A/C LED was failing. 2015 BEV 34k miles , no issues other than what appears to be a burnt out bulb associated with the recirculation switch for ai...
