Re: No owners manual

Yes, you can get the manual online. http://www.i3guide.com/pdf/BMWi3-owners-manual.pdf Additionally, the Owner's manual can be accessed inside of the car's infotainment system, by going to the head menu, then "Vehicle Information", and then "Owner's manual". The nice thing about ...

The pains of finding wiper blades for the i3.

The i3 uses a beam style wiper blade, with the OE part being manufactured by Bosch in Belgium. It appears to be based off a European market wiper blade, the AP750U. This would be a 29.5 inch blade here in the U.S.A. Many auto parts stores stock Bosch ICON wipers, which are very high quality, and qui...

Re: i3 Accident Collision :(

In ISTA (BMW's dealership diagnostics system), there is a service function to reset the "starter lock". I have no idea how this applies to the i3, but it may end up unlocking your car so it can be driven again. I have no confirmation to back this up with, and have not tested it.

Re: New to me 17' Rex questions

The first thing you want to do is code your REx. This will allow you to manually turn it off and on as long as your SoC is less than 75%. You can also increase the size of the gas tank to 9L (2.38 gallons) for more REx driving range. By doing this instead of running the REx while your battery is at ...

Re: Battery capacity issue

I wonder what they will do in 2023 when the 2014's are out of warranty and need new batteries. I'm sure many of the cars will still be functioning perfectly but needing new batteries. Will they allow owners to buy battery replacements? Hopefully they'll let you do a swap for a nice price, though I'...

Re: New to me 15' REX Certified Pre Owned no start REX?

Sounds like we may be neighbors. I am at 7000ft in Kamas, Utah. Are you in Park City? My wife works at St. Regis and after working a night shift and leaving it cold soaking in the employee parking lot on the Jordanelle side, the REX will not start sometimes. Also going to the movies and then trying...

Re: REX Acoustic sound dampening

The original REx was rated at 34Hp, someone said the new one is 38, so, yes, it might very well run a bit faster on the newer ones. Note, the REx rpm is not a fixed thing, it does change with load and how far 'behind' it is in keeping the set SOC. But, it doesn't rev very high until it gets over it...

Running the REx over 75% SOC.

The Range Extender is an interesting piece of technology. One of the design trade offs is that it can not be enabled over 75% SOC, presumably as a way of preventing overcharging of the batteries, much like how DC fast charge tapers off as you reach the upper part of the battery capacity. Anyway I fo...

Re: New to me 15' REX Certified Pre Owned no start REX?

because we are high in the mountains and far from everything. For me, cold soaking seems to be the smoking gun. I have issues with starting in sub-freezing temperatures. What are the temperatures like around where you are, also what's your elevation? I'm at around 6000 feet (in Utah). I use ethanol...
