I have been going back and forth with my local dealer and we have not been able to get some of the remote services to work via the smartphone app. Here is my situation

I am situated in the USA.
I have the Mega trim with base navigation.
My connected drive portal accessed via the car and via

https://connecteddrive.bmwusa.com/cdp/release/internet/servlet/login?locale=en_US

shows i am registered for these services.

BMW Assist eCall
BMW TeleService
Remote Services
eMobility Services

When i open the iremote app, I can view the current battery state.

BUT, I CANNOT perform the following funcitons from the app:

Lock
Unlock
Flash Lights
Flash Horn
Send address to car

Also, whatever i send via google maps to car does NOT show up in the car.

Now, the dealer is saying the car is not equipped with Options 6AK Connected Drive Services or 6NR Apps and none of this will work.

This makes NO SENSE to me as all these features ought to work as part of my registered services.

Could someone, pref someone with basic navigation in the USA confirm if the remote commands work for them or not?

I can't test as I have "navigation professional" not "navigation business", but I would use the SOS button on the headliner, tell them it's not an emergency, and ask if they can lock/unlock your car for you. I read a story where for whatever reason this solved the issue they were having communicating with the car from the app.

Also you can go to bmwvin.com to check exactly which options your car has from the factory. I very much doubt that any i3 has 6NR. I don't and all those functions work fine for me, excluding "unlock" as that's not an option on the iRemote app.

You should have these:
6AE TELESERVICES
6AK CONNECTEDDRIVE SERVICES
6AP REMOTE SERVICES

In some markets, the app can unlock the car, but it is not implemented in the USA. You can have BMW do it for you if you call. In the USA, you have three remote control options: lock the car, honk the horn, flash the lights. Does the app show the correct odometer reading, vehicle position (it won't unless you click a box in iDrive to enable it), and the state of the windows, doors, etc.?

I had the exact same problem. Contact i Concierge, they removed the car and re-added, and did a behind a scenes reset and all of this came back on. In my case I only had the Pre Condition button show up on the remote controls.

Thanks for these prompt responses. I just now called BMW Assist and they too could not unlock the doors for me. So essentially, BMW Assist is having the same issues as my iRemote app.

Just to be clear, i am seeing the following work correctly on my car from the iRemote app

Current odometer reading. Shows correct value
Current charge state. Shows correct value
Current location of the car. Shows correct location.
Current state of doors and windows. Shows lock and or unlock state correctly

The following does NOT work

Ability to lock the car
Ability to precondition the car
Ability to flash lights or horn
Ability to send address to car via google maps or via iRemote app

Did you contact i Concierge? That is where I ended up to resolve the problem. It was an issue on their server end.

With the car off and not charging, remove and then replace fuse 115, wait maybe 10-minutes and see what happens.

The car is still at the dealership and i will send them a note to give this a try as well as part of their troubleshooting. BTW, they did "reset" the TCU and that did not fix this issue. Would reseating the fuse do the same thing or does that reset the unit in a different way?

I have same issue with i-remote, sometimes it work and sometimes it does work (such as lock the vehicle or flashing light) No horn at all.

While there may be a service menu to reset the TCU, I'm not aware of it. Pull the plug which removes the power, or more simply, pull the fuse, which does the same thing and you don't risk damaging the small pins of the module, and don't have to deal with removing and reinstalling the rear seat and threading the silly seat belt anchors through.

Try deleting the car in the connected drive portal and re adding it. I could log into the app but it would not retrieve the status. This fixed it for me.

Thanks guys! Fuse#115 reset worked like a charm. My Iremote is now working like a charm!
I got a CEL light and was scrambling and sweating, thinking i pulled the wrong fuse.

looks like I accidentally hit the fuel door open button when i was exiting my vehicle. (totally unrelated)
Closed it, opened and closed the gas lid.. the CEL light went away!

I am the OP for this thread.

After going back and forth with the dealership and after their repeated attempts to resolve this issue, they have gotten word from their "experts" to replace the Telecommunication Box. The car is with them and they will be making this change tomorrow. Will keep you posted on progress.

I'm hoping this topic is still active, because I think I have a similar issue like OP.
Mine is 2014 Rex(Mega), vanilla version no added options.
I see that I have all those service subscriptions like OP, but unlike OP i can operate my vehicle through my Android app, however I can't send a map from the google map to my car.

I've been talking to BMW Genius, but it's going no where. Local dealership doesn't know why.
Mine should have these per bmwvin.com

6AC INTELLIGENT EMERGENCY CALL
6AE TELESERVICES
6AP REMOTE SERVICES

And I was told that my navigation option is a CHEAP ONE so that I can't see the real-time traffic. Then why those icons are available/clickable(but nothing happens) anyway. So-Misleading, Sigh...

There are differences in what the business verses pro navigation systems can provide. I've not tried to send a map, but I regularly send a location to the car, and then you can look in messages to navigate to it.

Yes, definitaly I have the business, or chap version nav. I can't see the real time traffic info i got that part. But i think i should be able to send the map to my car, that's what I'm trying to figure out.
Thanks.

Apologies if you already know how to do it...and it doesn't work...but this is how I do it...
-Swipe to the "mobility" menu
-Click on "map"
-enter the address in the search window
-when the pinpoint appears on the map, touch it
-the address will appear in a box. touch it again.
it should then come up with a menu that says "send to vehicle" or "add to favorites"

When you get in the vehicle, the navigation menu should have a red checkmark in the messages window. if you go to the messages menu and read it, it should be the destination and you can highlight it and select "start guidance".

Thank you, cmj912

I didn't know you can do that from the phone, and it worked. But I still can't send a map from my computer to my car.
This makes me think that it's BMW connecteddrive server issue not my car function.

Oh! I apologize. I thought you meant the phone app, not the computer.

I've not seen where you can send an actual map to the i3. You can, as has been said, send an address, which you can then navigate to...that information comes in as a message. That function works just fine from Google maps.
