2017 i3 with REX

I had a charger hatch lock malfunction.
Parts on order.

If the hatch is not locked, then you cannot start the car.
This prevents you from driving away with the cable hooked up.
Great idea.

Had to have someone hold the hatch tight, so I could take it to the dealer.

The dealer loaned me an X5. Very nice.

Car is pretty much perfect.
Should have it back on Tuesday.

The dealer replaced the charge hatch latch?
Everything is back to normal.

Car is back to 100%.

I enjoyed driving the new BM X5 that the dealer loaned me.
But the i3 is much involving.
Fun.

Question:

One of the service people said, "that he thought that the i3 as the quickest BMW from 0 to 40 mph."
Is that true?

Sorry, I did not see your question earlier.

Someone had to hold the hatch shut, to start the i3.

Not complaining.

I am guessing, that keeps you from driving off with a charging cord hooked up.

Everything is perfect again.

Problem.

I plan to test drive an i3s.

This could get expensive.
The i3s is expected after the 1st of the year.

No. This is a myth promoted by BMW itself even though independent tests by mainstream auto magazines disprove this myth. What BMW might have been trying to emphasize is that an i3, like all EV's, has full and instant torque at legal speeds unlike ICE vehicles whose engines must rev up by downshifting their transmissions with additional delays caused by such mechanical things as turbo lag.
