I was curious about conditioning in cold weather and generated this data:
condition_010.jpg

  • Initial charge profile looked normal.
  • Conditioning initial peak suggests the warmth from the charge session returned enough capacity to result in a short, peak rate.
  • Subsequent taper suggests the battery was also taking more charge.
  • Ended with about 2kW rate when it was unplugged.
This goes a long way to explaining why L1 charging in cold weather seems 'weak'. The ending 2kW rate is just too high for the 1.3kW charger.
