Hi,

Just had my application returned to me from the DMV due to the fact that the motive power description they have for the car is not listed as 'Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV). There is a form (Statement of Facts - REG 256) that the dealership must submit that corrects the clerical error that shows G (for gas) as opposed to Q (for hybrid).

Back in the queue for HOV decals I guess...

The i3 REx isn't a conventional hybrid, either...in no mode does it ever use the engine to directly drive the wheels. It's essentially in a class by itself for the time being. Not sure if 'government' has actually caught up. I know when I went to register my i3, my small city and the state database did not have a listing for it...they had to create one, and it took what should have been about a 5-minute task and made it about a 30-minute task to the chagrin of those waiting behind me. At least they were nice about it (both the clerk and the people waiting).

California specific thread I assume ;)

Same happened to me. Dealership reported it as an Electric Vehicle, but they are supposed to report it as Q, Plug-in hybrid. Have to stop by and get a REG-256 from the dealership explaining their error.

This correction is only necessary if the selling dealer makes an error on the original REG-256 submitted when the car is sold, is that correct? So I can avoid this if I make sure my dealer fills out the form correctly, or is the error made by BMW and everyone in CA who wants the HOV stickers needs to submit a correction via a new REG-256?

Mine got kicked back because the car isn't in the system yet (submitted with VIN but no plate number). Been 3 weeks since the purchase. The clock is ticking and it isn't looking good...

Add me to the list. The dealer put in the code for the Bev when I have a REx. To add insult to injury, my application was returned a second time, this time because the DMV specialist at my dealer did not fill in the dealer's information portion properly. I rectified this today so happily the next time I hear from the DMV will be my green sticker.

got kicked back because it checked that the BMW i3 is not on the ARB list. No idea what are they talking about because both i3 and ir REX are in the list. Don't know what to do anymore because I filled in all the information on the application correctly. Do I need to mail the same application back to the same office again? Any suggestions?

This is funny, since despite my best efforts and a chat with the person actually filling out the paperwork at the dealership, they still messed this up. I had to make another trip to the dealer with the correction paperwork....... Now I am waiting to see if I get a decal or another form to fill out.

Of the 15,000 green decals approved in CA which just started shipping out, does anyone know how many remain? I think I should be ok as I expect to receive my registration in about 3 weeks but was just curious. Too bad I can't bring the green decals from my Volt that I just turned in on lease.

Maybe this has been discussed, but I just noticed that the 2015 REX is not on the green sticker list:

http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/carpool/carpool.htm

So, did BMW somehow change the car (reprogram the REX?), or is the CA DMV slow to approve it (probably more likely).

Great question about the 2015 REX; you are right, it's missing from the list. Just received my green stickers this week for my 2014 REX. The 15,000 greenies for 2015 are gonna go fast!

Received my green sticker this week after two missteps that almost cost me the green sticker. My dealership managed to botch the paperwork so badly that the DMW kept sending it back. Each time it was resubmitted, I went to the back of the line. This time it worked. All's well that ends well. Also, received the KLE upgrade and the software upgrade this week. I was told my vehicle would be in the shop for one day, but it ended up being three. Also, there were two additional recalls: tightening all the bolts on the four doors, and a new sensor for the fuel tank--two matters I did not know were issues. Can anyone shed light on the background to these issues?
Thank you.

Both are known recalls, if you look around the forums. The door brake torquing is just retorquing the bolts for the door stops, and the fuel tank pressure sensor recall is replacing a sensor inside the fuel tank to prevent a check engine light.

Got mine today finally. I sent the application the 3rd week of January so it took a month. The number on the green decal is 62,xxx, so I'm guessing there are 7,000+ stickers left.
