Our new Canadian 2015 i3 REx just got its first oil/filter change after 5 months when CBS notice in dash said service was needed. 5,221 km on REx and 7,400 km on battery. Systems check found defective 12 volt battery which was replaced.

Owners manual also called for inspection at 3 months. This was done and no issues found at that time.

All work done for free as part of 4 year 80,000 km free service included in purchase price.

What are other peoples' experience?

I have a BEV, so there is lots less that needs periodic services and the only thing that has applied so far is to flush the brake lines and change the cabin air filter (at 2-years from build date or last done, regardless of miles). BMWUSA will replace the wiper blades annually for free.

In some markets, this service is an extra cost item, and may or may not be worth the price, but must be done to maintain the warranty (but not necessarily by BMW).
