Hi all. My first post!

Anyway, where I work we have 7kW AC chargers. I have a 2017 i3 with the BMW blue fast charge L2 cable. At "maximum" charging setting, the car charges for about 30-40 minutes before it stops and says "unable to charge" on the dash. This has happened multiple times across different charge bays. The bay usually doesn't indicate a fault, but sometimes it does.

However, with the "reduced" charging setting, I have no problems.

Charging at home with the slow portable charger on maximum is fine and also using the DC via CCS works ok too.

Has anyone else experienced this issue and found any solutions?

The EVSE owners have said their points are all working properly and have a good history of reliability.

Cheers!

It sounds to me the charging unit in the car is shutting down because of overheating. If you do it on low it is not getting as hot and ccs does not use the in car charging unit.
