Hoping someone can advise me on recent problems I've been having. First - I'd like to state that so far my i3 has been very reliable for the most part. About 2 (?) months ago I did have problems with fuel door opening- and then that problem disappeared and I was able to fuel up- since I don't put fuel in very often I don't know if is "fixed" - and yes I know there is a recall for that problem. Sometime in the past week I was getting a Passenger restraint system malfunction- and pretty much this is the only week I've had a passenger in the car for a long time. Got it a couple of times and it disappeared- so happy again. This morning I got my first CEL since owning the car. - just need advice. 12 volt battery? Buy a code reader? Call the dealership? Do nothing and hope it disappears ? TIA.

At least read the CEL code - it might be something trivial not worth worrying about or something that needs to be taken care of. If you are in the US - Autozone will read the code for free.

Autozone P018B Fuel Pressure Sensor "B" Circuit Range/Performance. Gave the guy $5 for reading it, and paid $15 for a forum membership- would hate to see this forum disappear. So I guess it is just that the fuel tank sensor needs to be replaced.

Yes, call the dealer about that recall.

This is one of the CEL's that one shouldn't worry about. I had an issue that started with a CEL and ended up having to replace the REX engine (under warranty) :).

Wow - on average how much were you using (or not using) the REx to have the engine replaced?

I used it several times on longer trips. After about 20 min of working it threw CELs which usually cleared. I had the dealer check the car and it was OK until the last time when with the CEL it also shut down the REX and I had not enough charge to reach home. However, stopping and restarting fixed it but this time the dealer took a much more serious look - the car stayed with them for about a month, they had to call a tech specialist to inspect it and found some problem with the REX so they replaced it. Most of the time was spend waiting for a new engine to arrive from Germany. This was couple years back, have not had any issues with the new REX but have not used it much either.

When you took it to the dealer, did you remove the REx coding or leave it on? If you left it on, the Dealer didn't mention it?

Never removed any coding when I took it to the dealer, they never mentioned it.
