Hi

I need some advice, please

My wife & I own a Ltd company and want to know if its better to take a company car scheme or a mileage allowance for each of us

My wife does 5500 miles per year business

I do 10,400 per year

We are looking at possibly buy a bmw i3 and later the i5 and having a charging point at our business

I would basically like answers to:

1. would having electric cars work out cheaper than petrol etc

2. would we receive any tax incentives for having a charging point at work etc

3. is it better to take company car allowance or mileage allowance?

Thanks

Adrian

I thought i5 is rumored to be an hydrogen fuel cell. Not sure eif you'll be able to charge it.

This issue sounds like a visit to your accountant is needed! They should be able to advise - but because all this EV stuff is rather new, and there are more than 10,000 pages of Tax rules (yes, ten thousand!!! ) they may not be fully conversant.
But it's a good question and, as a sole trader, I look forward to hearing what you decide.
