Look at the inside roof. It looks like there are dual sunroofs in the front separated by a section of roof. They look like the have the same cream color covering on them as does the rear window in the open door.

I'm beginning to wonder if there might be 2 options

Option 1) 2x glass panels above the front seats - that may not open ......just provide natural light.

Option 2) a more traditional sunroof ........fully opening glass sunroof.

We have seen a number of the spyshots where there is what looks like a solid piece of glass protruding above the roof (as per link).

I can't imagine that BMW would have a large sliding piece of glass and then block off the centre that's what makes me think there are 2 choices.

Certainly if a fully opening sunroof is available I will go for it - if not ....... glass panels are a very good second best.

Yes Parker that makes sense. I wouldn't think the whole panel opens as you see in the video if the there is a large bar in the middle as you can see in this picture. It's possibly like you say that this is another option- permanently installed glass that lets light in. If so there must be a way to close it so direct sunlight isn't baking in on you when it's hot outside.

New pics? Door sill looks wide?
