I would like to be able to have the car stop charging when it reached a predetermined SOC. For example, I only need the car to be charged to 50 miles range for tomorrows trips and as I am charging using mainly the output from my PV I don't want or need to take more power then necessary for this range.

Hi,

I've done something similar here but the control is in the charger, not the car. Not SoC autostop but charging is proportional to PV output and zero when there is no PV output. Charging kicks in again when the sun comes out and follows PV output.

It's a long thread but check out:-

Also, the Viridian EPC controller is available with a Solar sensor to track PV output:-

Enjoy :)

Possibly a mis-type, but the charger is not external to the car - it is an integral part of the vehicle and is located at the rear. The box on the wall is only a socket or tethered lead which connects to the vehicle.
