Before leasing our i3 I had requested a quote on a Cadillac ELR. MSRP was $80,960 and the selling price was $49,945. Car was new, not a demo. I also qualified for an additional $2,750 in incentives and was putting $2,000 down which reduced the price to $45,195.

At that price I was in the same price range of a i3 REX. The quote for a 3 year 30K lease was $532 a month. While this was a big improvement from the $699 a month with $6,000 down from the summer of 2014, it shows how GM and Cadillac missed on pricing and marketing what is essentially a Chevy Volt in nicer sheet metal and trim. Residual value at the end of 3 years is not much more than the Volt while the MSRP is more than double.

I'd rather have an i3 Rex than the ELR anyway. But I am holding off to see the new Volt. I might like it better than an i3.
