Hey guys, so I wrapped a small portion on both sides of the car with a 3M wrap matching the matte blue accents... here's a pic... let me know if you guys like it or not. Thanks!

I was going to go nooooooo. As I'm planning on having the whole car wrapped in blue. Maybe. But yeah i like what you've done there. I've gone with the white too as there's no point paying for coloured paint if you are gonna wrap. Plus ilike the white anyway.

Most likely I'll chicken out and go for wrapping the top of the bonnet in white with blue accents. And something similar at the rear.

I think theres too much Black.

I like the placement of color--many have commented it is something BMW should have done.

The color match doesn't look right, though; perhaps it is the lighting. There is a 3M color that is 99.99% match and the one you have on there doesn't seem to be it (basing on other people's photos of the other color that looks indistinguishable).

Believe it or not, I have used the same one that is the 99.99% match (found the part number and ordered the specific one). Funny thing is that when I compared the wrap to the blue on the car before install, it was an identical match. But I do agree that in the picture the blue looks a little different-- I have come to the conclusion that it must be the angles, because as mentioned, when you put a piece of the wrap next to the pre-existing blue, it's a perfect match!

Cool, understandable! Definitely chalk up to the angle/lighting.

My white i3 has the 3M blue wrap on the top of the hood, leaving the side edges black. The blue collar around the roundel is stock and is virtually indistinguishable from the color of the wrap that snugs up around it. Also wrapped the front lower corner piece like shown in the picture on dropbox. Also wrapped are three horizontal stripes on the tail: the entire spoiler, the narrow strip that includes the hatch release, and a narrow bar under the bumper. I think the horizontal stripes give the car a wider stance appearance, less tall/boxy looking.

The shark fin antenna on the roof is also wrapped (all but the skinny rod). Great parking lot locator help!

I also added clear protection to the front bumper, and to the top of the rear bumper (the cargo loading area), I also added a black wrap to the front of the side mirrors. The black front on the mirrors gives the i3 a bit more aggressive look from the front (less happy looking), and provides a continuation of the side black stripe from the front tip of the hood, through the side windows, to the tail.

Detail pictures are in the BMW i3 Facebook group, and a few pictures are also in the gallery of the wrapping company at <http://www.smartfilmaz.com/gallery/>. Unfortunately, that gallery seems to be down right now, but I believe my i3 is on page 4 of the gallery.

Darnit- as your mentioned the gallery is down, and I can't find the Facebook i3 page. I found a couple Facebook pages for i3s but didn't see your car. Can you either share another location we can view your pics or maybe the link to the Facebook page? Thanks in advance!

Interesting.. like the bonnet and roof, but think the rear is a bit too busy. I'd have left off the bit where the sensors are. Still better than standard so a sucess.

Can't help thinking this would be a good paint scheme to stop people overtaking / tailgating you with the cruise on at 75... ;-)

I think for mine I want to stick with just blue accents. Not sure exactly where they will be yet, but at least know the colour is available now. Well it's either that or I got for WW2 fighter plane paint job, with teeth and eyes and crossed out Porsche and M3 stickers on the sides (on the 0-40). LOL

Yes, that is mine. Thanks!

The only wrap on the roof is the shark-fin antenna and the rear spoiler. I have gone back and forth about the bottom stripe on the rear, but I think it does the intended job of giving the car a wider appearance. The black on the front side of the mirrors is the easiest not to notice, but I think it does by far the most per square inch of wrap to change the look of the car, both from the front and from the sides.

Subtle, looks good. Does the wrap help with water spots/dirt? The bottom bits on the i3 seem to be a magnet for that stuff.

Before I installed the vinyl, I removed the entire white piece from the car and had to give it a good cleaning, as it was pretty dirty as you mentioned. So far visually it appears that the vinyl wrap has less debris on it, but I'm not sure if that's just a fluke or if it really attracts less dirt. I will pay closer attention over the next week and keep you posted!
