We have our first child due in a few weeks and was wondering what your choices are for best infant car seat for the i3? From what I've been reading, the Cybex Aton and Aton Q are some of the smallest in size. Would so appreciate your recommendations on brand and model.

http://www.mybmwi3.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=3649 has a discussion of car seats, as well as a link to some edmunds blog post about what seat they used.

My experience is also there.

Hello,

Think any infant car carrier will do. This was one of my concerns when we got the i3. You would need to get used with the suicide doors but other than that it's pretty simple.

Only thing to be cautious about is with tight parking spots. You might need to back the car up before getting you baby in.

Goodluck!

Hi there,

My wife and I test drove an i3 at the weekend, and one criteria was that our daughters car seat fitted. It is a Cybex Sirona - http://cybex-online.com/gb/carseats/sirona.html, and is quite a sizeable seat which rotates to allow for ease of child installation. It fitted fine behind the drivers seat, and with the seat in position for me (5'9" - 175cm) it fitted well. We normally have the child seat behind the passenger to allow easy access from the kerb, so space should not be an issue.

On another note, we also have a Bugaboo Cameleon 3 pushchair - https://www.bugaboo.com/GB/en_GB/strollers/bugaboo-cameleon3 (again quite large), and that fitted in the boot. There was no other space in the boot though.

We have a 24 hours test drive this coming weekend, where decisions will be made...

Hope this helps

My wife and I are expecting our first, and as I just picked up my i3 last year I am not looking to make a change in vehicle at this time, so we need to make it work.

We are going to use the Orbit G2 baby seat, which you put in the car with the child facing you, set it on it's base and then turn the whole seat towards the rear. It's an extremely great combination with our cars and the lack of the B-pillar.

Just thought I would share my findings.

Maxi Cosi 2WayPearl is the best seat i've tried.

The pebble would then be the starting seat. The child can safe drive reverse longer than usual with 2WayPearl.

Baby will grow fast, so I chose the convertible types for him till he grows to 65 pounds, I think it needs at least half a year. And the Graco 4Ever is what I took finally. There are more choices for you to choose, such as you may need a car seat lighter, easily to use or good quality. See the article of car seat for infant below to get one you need.
