Re: If You Hadn't Gotten the Exterior You Did

As far as I know only one owner on here has reacted to the 'five neutral tones and one colour' mix by vinyl-wrapping their i3. If anybody else has done a full body wrap (rather than just advertising decals), please show us a photo. In answer to the OP's question: none of the above. I'd like to see a...

Re: Problem with finish on car

I've seen a similar problem before, on a Renault. The sunscreen etched itself into the lacquer (clear) coat over the metallic finish. I used Meguiar's Scratch-X to get it out. If you do try to polish the marks out, practice on somewhere invisible first!

Re: Rear Passenger Windows and egress options

How does a rear passenger exit the i3 in an emergency if the front occupants can't open their doors? It seems the side windows are fixed to save weight - so no wind down option. Can they exit through the rear hatch from inside - assuming no luggage in the way ? I would recommend BMW at least provid...

Re: CRASH .... oh. no.

This just makes it seem like any rear-end collision will result in a comparatively expensive replacement of that glass. My old Volvo C30 had a glass tailgate and that never gave any trouble, but it was well protected and it was designed to collapse into the back of the car rather than project shard...

Re: Embarrassed by the horn? YES!

I'm not concerned about the lack of noise this car makes; it only concerns me if I see a red-tipped white cane at the curb. +1. In my town, we have a college for the Royal National Institute for the Blind, where those who have recently lost their sight come to be trained. So I think I'll be getting...

Re: Golf gte or i3

The BMW is the only car to have been designed and implemented from the ground up as an electric car. Talking out the ICE and adding an electric motor and as many batteries as you can find a home for isn't doing the job properly. And Golfs are two a penny: if I'm spending that sort of money I want my...

Re: Detailing an i3

SOmebody said, and I cannot confirm, that the plastic body panels have the color embedded into them in manufacture, i.e., no paint. In a typical car, paint adds maybe 50+ pounds, so color embedded in the panels seems like a logical decision to help keep the weight down. Yes that makes sense, but if...

I'm guessing this isn't a yeast-based spread you put on buttered toast (see http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/ ... orway.html), so is it a wax or what?

Detailing an i3

I've not got an i3 yet, so maybe current owners can answer my question: what is the actual surface finish of an i3's body? Is it raw plastic? plastic with acrylic paint over it? painted plastic with a clear coat laquer on top? And whatever it is, what type of sealant or wax are owners using to prese...

Re: Class action lawsuit for i3 Rex owners in the nonCARB st

I'm not a dyed in the wool BMW fan, so not biased towards them. When I see that emotive word 'greed' appearing I'm bound to think that before anybody behaves in a particular way to get something, somebody has got to have given them the incentive. In this case it appears to have been the relevant pa...
