Re: Coding Anti-Dazzle and Variable Light Distribution

The good news is that after years of unsuccessful attempts to allow the technology, A.D.B. [adaptive driving beam] lights will soon be on American cars and trucks, thanks to a section in the recently passed Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act that mandates their use. According to the infrastruct...

Re: Coding Anti-Dazzle and Variable Light Distribution

I poked around in bimmercode but couldn't find anything related to anti-dazzle or matrix, even in expert mode (tho alot of the terminology is german so it can be cryptic).

Re: Coding Anti-Dazzle and Variable Light Distribution

In North America, I'm fairly sure enabling the LED Matrix headlights in the i3 requires coding, and it only works on later model year cars with automatic high beams. See Bjørn's video, at around the 7:40 mark, for the i3's VLD in action https://youtu.be/5DPdPgU9Myc?t=450. Seems ... meh. He's drivin...

Re: Coding Anti-Dazzle and Variable Light Distribution

I don't think its possible on the i3 because we don't have left-right steerable lights, they only auto-level.

Can you post links to the videos you've seen?

Re: hotspot in Canada ?

I had the 3-month/3gb trial in my 2019 when i first got it... it worked fine but I had no use for it since we have unlimited phone/ipad data and don't have kids riding in the back on trips.

I seem to recall it was somewhere around $15 per month, but don't quote me on that.

Hopefully, someone will post when U.S. Value Package i3's were sold because these had halogen rather than LED low beams IIRC.
Oh right I forgot about that... found it in my resource, it was available only in the US and only in 2016MY, option code was ZIR.

thanks alohart!

Re: i3 light configurations and options

For the North American market the front lighting went like this: 2014 - 2017 - LED low beam / separate halogen high beam and incandescent front signal in lower fascia LCI 2018 - 2021 - LED low and high beam in single projector housing / static LED cornering light in headlight housing / LED front sig...

Highly recomment Canadian-made FLO

The G5 has a manually adjustable current if needed for ones install situation.

Re: 2017 to 2021 changes, peeves addressed (cruise, mute)...

My theory is that since this is a "city car" BMW decided to make the cornering lights active at lower city-like speeds (90 degree turns, underground parking lots etc). I have two wishes for them: 1. turn on when signal is on (turn off when signal goes off) 2. be able to turn them on as "all-weather"...
