Re: What is the part number for the clips that hold the door skin on?

you got more of the body repair documents? These are all I know of, get them while they are still available - BMW is actively trying to turn off BMW enthusiasts by shutting down DIY repair and maintenance sites. In my case they've completely succeeded. http://www.jack.sh/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/...

Parts #13 & #14 in this picture might be what you need: https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showpa ... Id=41_2339
There is good information related to i3 body repair in this doc - see page 6: https://cdn.jack.sh/2014/08/03_I01-Body ... evel-1.pdf

Re: How durable is the fabric upholstery

2014 Mega with ~40k miles, original owners. It's a daily driver for shopping, errands (best car for that :D ). Seats look like new, I've had few small stains on the fabric which were successfully removed with Scotchguard cleaner. I had a problem on the leather piece on the driver seat back though - ...

Re: Heated Seat Issue

Just finished replacing my driver's seat cushion and have some observations and pictures to share. My seat heater was coming on fine but would turn off after 3 min and will not turn on until the car is turned off and on, and a few minutes have passed. I had a broken temperature sensor. I believe if ...

Re: Rear bike carrier

I bought this rack: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BCLAZJC/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 these straps to use at the top of the tailgate instead of the standard hooks (did not want to latch at the plastic spoiler): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000BT6Q6M/ref=oh_aui_detailpag...

Re: Engine check light

Autozone will pull the error code for free - at least they used to - haven't been there since we got rid of all our ICE cars 5 years ago :-) The code they pull out might not be very informative but it could be a great google search starter to diagnose the problem. This could be a major or a minor pr...

Re: Exchange front bumper i3 for a i3s model? Lower part.

The TIS seems to indicate no special tools required: https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/i01-i3s-120-hat/repair-manuals/51-body-equipment/51-11-front-bumper/1VnXgWGsJo https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/i01-i3s-120-hat/repair-manuals/51-body-equipment/51-11-front-bumper/1VnXwd51jY These are supposed ...

Re: Exchange front bumper i3 for a i3s model? Lower part.

You are right that the lower bumper part (referred to as bumper trim front in the parts list) seems to be the only difference. If you go through the parts list: https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showparts?id=8P63-USA-12-2019-I01N-BMW_i-i3s_120Ah&diagId=51_7692 it looks like that trim (item #2) and th...

Re: New transmission required

The transmission itself is less than $1k - £6000 GBP for installed one seems way overpriced. https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/partgrp?id=1Z43-USA-09-2014-I01-BMW_i-i3_60Ah_Rex&mg=27 https://www.thebmwminipartstore.com/oem-parts/bmw-gear-assembly-27208681526 This is the only instance I remember, in m...

Re: 80m commute no charger at work; REX or no REX?

It will be a stretch with the BEV in winter. You can get >30% range hit in winter. Besides the car would sit there for 8 hours in the cold. My wife's commute is 48 miles one way and in cold days she has to use the REX engine to make it there with pre-conditioned car (2014 REX with a bit of degraded ...
