Re: BEV vs REX

I am also wondering what the typical maintenance costs are for the BEV (apart from Tires). How frequently the brake fluid needs to be replaced. Any other maintenance items? BMW recommends replacing brake fluid every 2 years. Compared with other cars, this seems overly frequent. Now that our free ma...

Re: About to purchase an i3

However, one is a gigaworld with the light grey interrior That sounds like a base Mega World model because the Giga World has tan leather trimmed beige upholstery with light eucalyptus wood trim on top of the dashboard. Except for different upholstery, Giga and Tera World models have identical feat...

FYI, I also had the BMW i3-REx in "Eco Pro" mode too.
My sense is that Eco Pro mode allows full power when the power pedal is floored so that acceleration is just as fast as in Comfort mode. Maybe that's not true for the Model 3's Chill mode.

Re: BEV vs REX

I would be more concerned about expensive repairs of the REx system than I would about extreme battery pack degradation. Why bother with the weight, maintenance, etc., of a REx if you really don't need it? I expect 3rd-party battery pack modules to be available after the first battery pack warrantie...

Thanks - yes, it'll take a bit of tweaking the settings etc.
Hundreds of new spam messages are again being posted. They seem to start at ~3:15 pm Hawaii Aleutian Standard Time daily.

Your M3 is way slower than advertised.
I'm guessing that this is due to chill mode.

Re: UPDATE Re: The spam here is insane!

I had to take the forum down to upgrade it, so the good news is that now we're running the latest and greatest anti-spam software that uses the StopForumSpam database. Unfortunately, the StopForumSpam database has failed to stop the recent spammer. About 950 spam messages at this time with apparent...

Re: Thinking of buying a 2017 I3 Bev

I believe the 2017 offers 2 battery sizes and possibly larger than the 2016 model.. I want to go for the larger size battery. There were very few, if any, 2017 i3's sold in the U.S. with the smaller 60 Ah battery pack, so almost all have the larger 94 Ah battery pack. The few 2017 i3's with the 60 ...

Re: My impressions of my I3 test drive

The I3 is something that I am very serious of buying. The question is should I go with the Bev or Rex? I drove the Rex and wondering if I need to drive the Bev. Is there much of a difference? The REx weighs ~10% more than the BEV which results in slightly slower acceleration. For those living in cl...

Re: Thinking of buying a 2017 I3 Bev

We bought a 2014 BEV because we rarely need the additional range the REx version offers, and we really wanted to leave internal combustion engines and their maintenance behind. Our i3 is our only car, but we never travel long distance by car. We have been happy with our decision. However, everyone's...
