I will start by getting a charger from Amazon and trying that. I assume that an 8A Charger/Maintainer would work?
I have an 0.8 A CTEK charger that works fine with the i3's low-capacity 20 Ah 12 V battery, so your 8 A charger will be way more than necessary.

Re: MyBMW app: Can't add vehicle

I have an old 2016 iPhone SE but don't recall exactly what happened when I installed the My BMW app. I recall that after I logged on to the app using my ConnectedServices login credentials, the app asked me to create a PIN. I then set the app to use Touch ID to log on so that I don't have to enter m...

I'm not aware of the friction brakes being applied in the absence of regen. If my 2017 can't regen (usually at 100% charge or on a chopy road or pothole) it gives me nothing when I lift off, and just coasts. Those who live at the top of hills have reported that friction brakes mimic regen when the ...

Re: "Increased battery discharge when stationary" and other errors

I got this (hilarious) message about turning on the engine on my BEV i3, which makes me suspect that the 12v battery needs to be replaced. If you've not been driving as much as you normally do over a significant period (e.g., during the pandemic), the 12 V battery could have slowly discharged as th...

Re: OBD port relocation (insurance demand)

What's wrong with its current location? This is a pretty standard location for many vehicles. Leaving an OBD dongle in the port after shutting an i3 down will sound the burglar alarm eventually by default. This behavior can be changed using something like BimmerCode to change the value of a paramete...

Re: Trouble charging at Harley Livewire fast charge stations

And BMW is not planning to update the software like Tesla does to their car. I have not gotten any software update since 2017. I'm pretty certain that BMW releases i3 system software updates every 4 or so months. However, unlike Tesla, an i3 owner must pay a dealer to install an update unless it so...

Re: Connected Services Ending - Offical

Unfortunately, for your vehicle, there is not a technology upgrade available that would allow you to continue to use ConnectedDrive/BMW Assist services after the expiration of your contract, or February 2022, whichever occurs first. BMW's position seems to be that it is not willing to assist in thi...

Re: Yet another drivetrain malfunction

I was stewing last night as I tried to sleep, thinking that I'll get the car back from the dealership and find someone to do the job cheaper... Unfortunately, the official BMW motor mount bracket replacement procedure involves dropping the drivetrain which is very labor-intensive (i.e., expensive)....

Re: Yet another drivetrain malfunction

Update: The dealership found broken motor mount brackets and it's going to cost about $3400 to fix. You're lucky that other expensive damage didn't occur after the bracket broke as has happened with others. I purchased this car used from a BMW dealership in a nearby city and I'm wondering, since th...

Re: Resonant hum

I was wondering what else is in the front of the vehicle? For example, is there a compressor that runs the active battery cooling? I wonder if there is a leak somewhere? I have heard that compressors can create a similar sound when there is a leak in the system? The A/C compressor is adjacent to th...
