Re: I3 not following delayed off-peak charging

I am switching the on/off switch not the main power. The relay is rated at 30A which seems high, but the on/off switch is very low power just to enable the charger. An on-off switch on the low-power side of the relay is a nice feature that few EVSE's seem to have. However, to access the low-power s...

Re: I3 not following delayed off-peak charging

I just ordered a "Programmable Timer Switch Time Relay Digital LCD" from amazon for $12 to wire to the on/off switch of my Bosch Power Max Level2 charger. How many amps is your Bosch Power Max Level 2 EVSE providing and what it the amperage rating for your Programmable Timer Switch Time Relay Digit...

Re: Battery discharging while Stationary

Crossed your post. Seems DTC 's not the problem. Good that you're back on the road! The HV disconnect can be tricky. I once thought that I had closed it but apparently hadn't quite. The resulting symptoms were similar to yours. Pushing the HV plug more firmly into its receptacle fixed the problem.

Re: Battery Range loss Comparison to Bolt, Model 3

Using GOM values would be really inaccurate. Which driving mode was the car in? How had it been driven during the previous 18 miles? What was the ambient temperature? I'd put my money on the Idaho National Labs' tests of 4 new 2014 i3 BEV's. INL has sophisticated equipment that can measure battery p...

Re: Battery discharging while Stationary

When I try to select Forward, Neutral or Reverse - nothing happens. Help please. Clearly the car is not driveable to the nearest agent. Is there any "reset" protocol I have missed? I do have a VPeake ODB device and BimmerCode loaded on my phone. Can I use that to check what might be wrong? Some oth...

Re: Optional ConnectedDrive services no longer available in store

After I complained about being able to use the 10-year ConnectedDrive services subscriptions that were included in the purchase price of our 2014 i3 for less than 8 years due to BMW not providing a reasonable upgrade path to a 4G telematics module, I received this boiler-plate reply: "Due to a phasi...

Re: Battery discharging while Stationary

No, the HV was sitting at 43% when I parked it but everything was dead in the morning, so I don't know how much trying to charge the 12V would have drained it before it finally fell over. There is little evidence that the HV battery pack charges the 12 V battery when an i3 is parked unless the HV b...

Re: Welcome to the BMW i3 Forum

I hear that they improved in 2017? The original 60 Ah (22 kWh) battery pack seems to lose capacity considerably faster than later battery packs. As a 60 Ah 2014 i3 owner, I recommend not considering any i3 earlier than a 2017 model if your budget allows. Even though some 60 Ah i3's were apparently ...

Re: Battery discharging while Stationary

It's the East Penn Manufacturing Co. I'm surprised that a U.S. manufacturer would be the source 12 V batteries for i3's sold in New Zealand. I'm pretty certain that the 12 V batteries in European i3's aren't supplied by East Penn Manufacturing. The voltage on the old battery was <1V and I'm now con...

Hydrogen is lighter than air, but the venting tube heads downwards :?
True, but it would be under pressure when vented, so that would force the hydrogen to flow downward.
