Re: Mileage Estimation

Interestingly, when I charge my car, I can pretty accurately measure how much my battery capacity really is. According to my rate charge (how much I pay for the charge and how much was added to the car), I can kind of accurately compute what my battery capacity is (not usable...actual). Of course, ...

Re: Front Radiator Louvers?

These louvers are a mystery to me. Our 2014 BEV doesn't have louvers while a fellow i3 owner's 2019 BEV has them. Maybe someone can explain what they do and why some i3's have them and some don't. Your photos show that only the lower 2 of the grill's 3 horizontal rows are open on BEV's whereas all 3...

Re: Rearranging iDrive Icons

Might these icon positions be saved in a driver profile that's associated with a specific fob and you used a different fob?

Re: I took my 2014 i3 in for a battery capacity check and BMW added capacity to my battery

I know mine got updated but honestly I've not noticed any difference between before and after the update. It's possible my update was performed during CPO but I doubt it. I don't think the CPO is that thorough to be honest. That said, I honest don't mind if they released more useable capacity in th...

Re: Software update needed for HV battery capacity check

You are badly missing a key distinction: the i3, when charged to “100%” on your dash, is only charged to 80% of the capacity of the pack as built. It won’t ever use that upper 20%, no way, no how. That’s by *design*. That's simply not true! 87% of a 60 Ah battery pack's nominal new 21.6 kWh gross c...

Re: Software update needed for HV battery capacity check

It's better to have the car plugged in and be conditioned than not. My garage hits 100 F inside in the summer. If I don't have my car plugged in, it's worse for the battery to sit in that heat all day. I'm pretty certain that battery pack cooling becomes inactive after the charge level reaches 100%...

Is the 70% threshold for warranty measured from full capacity or usable capacity?

Re: Software update needed for HV battery capacity check

What really matters is irreversible battery cell degradation. With a BMS controlling battery pack charging and discharging, it's nearly impossible for mere mortals to measure actual irreversible cell degradation. I suppose we could map battery pack or cell voltages to actual charge levels to determi...

Re: Charting Battery Capacity/ State of Health Over Multiple Years

During the capacity check I went from: I001-17-11-543 to: I001-21-03-530 . Thanks! It would really be nice to know what changes in each software update. The fact that BMW is apparently still releasing an i3 software update every 4 months makes me wonder what is changing. I'm guessing that the chang...

Re: Latest Update to Navigation- US

NA NEXT 2022-1 was recently released for early i3's, but I don't know whether that's what a 2018 needs.
