Re: Cannot turn off alarm (with dog inside). 2014 i3

as for LIM, I believe it is referencing SPEED LIMIT, so look up SPEED LIMIT INFO in your manual. I've not set a speed limit, either, but I'm guessing that's what "LIM" indicates. A speed limit can be set or unset in Eco Pro mode. I don't know what to advise when being unable to turn off t...

Re: Fan noise when pulling away

I think the latter is true. Also, I've never heard of an i3 not having heated seats as an option. On p. 84 of BMW's I01 High-Voltage Training Manual : "The I01 is equipped as standard with a cooling system for the high-voltage battery. For this purpose it is incorporated in the refrigerant cir...

Re: Battery upgrade

We own a 2015 March i3 model. I don't know what the Amp is but I think it's 42. That would be a 60 Ah battery pack with 94 Ah and 120 Ah battery packs available in 2017 and 2019 i3's, respectively. Specifically in England, was there any way to upgrade to the later longer range batteries for a lower...

Re: Fan noise when pulling away

I suspect this is the cooling/heating system kicking in to condition the battery. Since the battery is cooled by the same system that also provides cabin heat/cooling, even when you have the fan inside the car off, you may still hear the system running because it's conditioning the HV battery. The ...

Re: Cannot turn off alarm (with dog inside). 2014 i3

Hmm. Does that mean I'm basically out of luck, if that's the case? Yes, USA. "Codiing" is merely changing the values of parameters that affect various behaviors and so is reversible. This could be done with the BimmerCode smartphone app (~$40 in your favorite app store) used in conjunctio...

Re: 2017 BEV partially reset itself? Cosmic rays?

one of the "obvious" problems may be that the bolt(s) holding the terminal adapters down on the battery may have loosened over time. If you are checking the voltage at the terminals, I would check the posts as well to see if they are loose at all. Well, your suggestion wasn't obvious to m...

Re: Buying another i3, some coding questions.

- I plan on coding for hold state of charge, this can be done on any rex, yes? Yes - If you could remind me... adaptive cruise control from the factory brings it to a stop and holds it, right? Yes, adaptive cruise control (ACC) would stop an i3 if a vehicle ahead is stopping. An i3 won't roll backw...

Re: 2017 i3 Rex EME Repair $14,000 USD? Is this for real?

Yeah that's ridiculous...report them to BMW...that should no be that expensive...it's a $500 part AT THE MOST. You must be thinking of a different module. The EME seems to be the most expensive electronic module in an i3, maybe because of its wide-ranging functionality including converting DC power...

Re: REX is underrated!

Frankly I would have rented a car and not worried about it. 99.8% of the rest of the time I'd drive a pure EV. I don't see the point of lugging around a dead-weight almost all the time for that "occasional" need. But that's just my opinion. After having driven EVs for over 8 years now (an...

Re: "low cost charging" option grayed out...?

Thanks frictioncircle - I just ordered a 30/240V timer-relay to avoid having to replace my EVSE (which I'll install adjacent to my load center & which will interrupt feed to 240V receptacle for the EVSE), but yes, it's time for me to give up on what sure seemed like it was a pre-engineered on-b...
