Re: Charging to 80% capacity

So far the battery behaviour has been consistant on all the usage/charge readings. showing no sign of degradation. Noticing mild degradation can be difficult. The free mi3 app (iOS) or electrified app (Android) reports the battery pack state of health which is probably a better indication of degrad...

Re: One very confused i3

I always thought the HV disconnect was recommended but not required. I had no idea it could result in this much chaos. BMW's TIS documentation indicates that with early integration levels (system software versions), if the HV disconnect isn't disconnected prior to disconnecting or externally chargi...

Re: Charging to 80% capacity

All our experience was that passive cell balancing was an essential part of the i3 charge strategy and occurred only above 85%. Ignoring usable buffers here. I managed to get a 60Ah 2014 down to 33m GOM by only part charging. I limited charging in our 2014 BEV for more than 7 years yet the mi3 app ...

Re: Can not select “park”

So I took out the battery 2 days ago and I topped it off. It did take a couple hours to fully recharge the battery. I plugged it all back in and I still can't get it to Park or move for that matter. I can put it in D and R but no acceleration happens. It still goes to "N" when I try to pa...

Re: Can not select “park”

Can you remove it from the car and use an external charger to top it off? It's not necessary to remove the 12 V battery to charge it with an external battery charger. I do this every year before and after we store our i3 while we travel for 3 months. Connecting the positive charging cable isn't as ...

Re: Warranty Transferrable for 2014/2015?

As a used i3 buyer myself, one of my assumptions was that the battery warranty did transfer. I've read multiple references indicating that in the US it is federally mandated that EVs have an 8year, 100k mile warranty on defects (which is why US i3s use 100k miles instead of 100km), however it is sh...

Re: Warranty Transferrable for 2014/2015?

Yep, battery pack warranty goes with the vehicle, not with the owner, so it transfers to all owners.

Re: How to re-program a key to work on a different i3?

Many have said that doing so is impossible because each fob is associated with a specific VIN. Maybe someone with write-permissions to a BMW server somewhere could change this association, but apparently BMW dealers cannot.
