Re: Using range extender only for electric charge

But again, this was a lot of 40-50 mph driveing and an alignment, while still within oem specs. more for rolling than safety/controlability. Seriously, the factory allignment is terrible on this car! What alignment specs do you prefer? Did you set the rear camber to the minimum negative camber and ...

Re: Anyone else having issues with BMW connect App not working?

I'm in Hawaii also and the app doesn't work for me! I keep getting bad token message. Using the My BMW app in Honolulu, I was just able to unlock the doors on the first try and lock them after 2 failures which seems to be fairly typical for me, so the app and the BMW remote server seem to be workin...

I have a feeling that we are not going to see anything like i3 - a distinctively styled compact RWD car.
That might be true in the U.S., at least for a few more years. However, there are several nice, compact, RWD, hatchback EV's available in Europe (e.g., VW ID.3, Honda e).

Re: 2014 i3 electronaut 34 mi range

Usable battery capacity depends on the capacity of the weakest battery cell and how much of that capacity the battery management system (BMS) allows to be used. So reduced range could be due to either or both. We owners just don't have many tools to be able to distinguish between these two factors. ...

Re: Level 1 Living at 16 Amps

I'm betting that's a feature of the Open EV, and I can't argue against including it, although it is one more thing to malfunction and prevent charging. The header information I posted is in a conditional compilation section that suggests that it would be included only when an OpenEVSE has an option...

Re: Odd Pump Noise

Are there symptoms or precursors that come before catastrophic failure? I wonder if it can be mitigated before it gets out of hand. Increased noise seems to be a precursor to failure. If cooling seems to be abnormal (i.e., less cooling), maybe the A/C system needs to be recharged and any leaks fixe...

Re: Level 1 Living at 16 Amps

I would only point out that the EVSE has no internal means to LIMIT current. I guess that depends on the meaning of "limit". An EVSE probably can't limit its output current except to turn it off completely if the output current exceeds the maximum current specified by the pilot signal. I also found...

Re: Odd Pump Noise

Sounds like the A/C compressor to me. This compressor is on the left of the car just forward of the rear axle, so that's where the sound would be the loudest. It's difficult from a video to determine how loud the sound actually is because the distance of the microphone from the sound source affects ...

Re: My beautiful brick.

I used the FOXWELL NT510 to register. Seems pointless since it was precosely the same stats as my replacement version, but I did it. Apparently the only point is to store the replacement date so that a mechanic in the future would be able to consider the age of the 12 V battery when making a repair...

Re: My beautiful brick. All is well.

Grabbed a dongle and the Bimmercode app, changed the rex milage, and registered the battery. I have BimmerCode and might need to install a replacement 12 V battery soon. Please explain how you registered the 12 V battery with BimmerCode. I had thought that only BimmerLink could register the battery.
