Re: A/C Fan Speed issue on Auto

Is this decoupling done through coding? I coded a few things with BimmerCode, but this was not one of them. Is there a benefit to decoupling them? It's an iDrive setting, at least in pre-LCI U.S. i3's, with no coding required. This setting allows full climate control strength in Eco Pro mode, but n...

Re: A/C Fan Speed issue on Auto

The i3'a automatic climate control system continues to surprise me after almost 7 years of ownership, so I can't offer any advice that I would be confident about. However, unless you have decoupled the climate control system from Eco mode in iDrive, you will get less intense climate control than you...

Re: TPMS Accuracy

I view the TPMS system as a warning system for inflation pressure changes, not for accurate pressure readings. Inflation pressure varies considerably with temperature, so the inflation pressure can change considerably while driving. Every couple of months, I check the inflation pressure with an accu...

Re: Tire Pressures

I think they all need higher pressures, but especially the 20 inch rims, as they have less distance to go before the rim bottoms out on a pot hole. I agree. Since buying our i3 in 2014, I have increased the inflation pressures of our 19" tires by 10 psi over the recommended pressures of 33F/41R. Th...

Re: I Remote app

Curious to know though, I've seen youtube videos of the BMW i remote app where you can monitor the charging status on your phone. After searching on the app store, My BMW seems to be the only official app and I don't have the option to monitor the charging status in that app. Is the i remote a stan...

Re: My Virgin Charge Was a Nightmare!!!

Anything at or above 50kW is considered L3 in general until you start entering HP territory. You are essentially breaking down the level categories into the sub-categories for the two types of current types...which to most people is irrelevant. For home users, L3 charging at 50kW is not an option d...

Re: My Virgin Charge Was a Nightmare!!!

There are also 100AMP, DC Wall boxes that are 240V, 24kW, L2. The difference between charging currents isn't the issue, power level is. As I wrote in a previous post, DC Level 2 is defined as 50 to 1000 VDC 80-400 A (400 kW). Your example DC charger is 240 V (yep, between 50 and 1000 VDC) and 100 A...

Re: My Virgin Charge Was a Nightmare!!!

50kW isn't considered L2. I'm in the business. You're being sloppy with your use of various charging levels because you don't distinguish between the two very different charging methods, AC and DC, each of which have 2 levels adopted by the SAE. So when you write "L2", do you mean AC Level 2 or DC ...

Re: “Idle” With A/C OK?

The A/C will cool the car but there is so much glass on the car that you really feel the radiative heat of the sun coming through even with the A/C cranking. In the tropics with higher average sun angles than in the middle latitudes, I feel more heat radiating down through the roof than entering th...

Re: My Virgin Charge Was a Nightmare!!!

Actually that's what's called HIGH POWER. L3 is 50kW. L2 is 24kW DC/19kW AC, L1 is 7.2kW, etc home charging Below that is plug in the wall. Not sure where you got your information. In North America : AC Level 1: 120 VAC 1 phase up to 16 A (1.92 kW) AC Level 2: 208-240 VAC 1 phase up to 80 A (19.2 k...
