Re: REX is underrated!

Frankly I would have rented a car and not worried about it. 99.8% of the rest of the time I'd drive a pure EV. I don't see the point of lugging around a dead-weight almost all the time for that "occasional" need. But that's just my opinion. After having driven EVs for over 8 years now (an...

Re: "low cost charging" option grayed out...?

Thanks frictioncircle - I just ordered a 30/240V timer-relay to avoid having to replace my EVSE (which I'll install adjacent to my load center & which will interrupt feed to 240V receptacle for the EVSE), but yes, it's time for me to give up on what sure seemed like it was a pre-engineered on-b...

Re: Front passenger door check strap

I need to replace the front passenger door check strap on an early i3 REX. I took it to a decent bodyshop and they took the interior door card off and found a large aluminium door frame which stopped access to the check strap. They are saying need to remove the door and then the inside door frame. ...

Re: "low cost charging" option grayed out...?

I get home daily at, say, 4PM (start work at oh-dark-thirty.) That schedule would give me just 1 hour of potential charge-time before the 5PM rate-hike from low- to mid-cost kWh, since low-cost hours are 9-5PM. (EVSE is as basic as they come, so no timing option there.) So if I were to set a fake i...

Re: Start/Stop button slowly flashes orange

The Owner's Manual includes descriptions of the start/stop button lighting: Lighting pulses orange ▷ After unlocking and opening the door. ▷ After switching off drive-ready state. When the brake pedal is depressed, the lighting becomes more intense. Various interior lights turn on and off for reason...

Re: Full charge shows only 64 miles is this normal?

For example, if you set a Departure Time of 9am and choose "Precondition", the car will measure the ambient air temp for awhile and keep track of the temperature of the battery pack. If the pack falls below 50F, the car will come on 3 hours in advance (in this case, 6am) and will circulat...

Re: Full charge shows only 64 miles is this normal?

Consider that batteries degrade just by being batteries. They're like kids: they can be coddled, but that won't stop them from aging. Even if they've been perfectly cared for... Amen! The battery pack in our very coddled 2014 BEV lost ~25% of its capacity despite having been driven only ~13k miles ...

Re: Door open warning

At least on early i3's, the rear doors sometimes need to be shut with some force to avoid the door open warning. The door sensor must be pretty sensitive, so you might have disturbed something during your dash cam installation. Try shutting the door with more force to see whether that eliminates the...

Re: Anyone found another tire that fits??

Rolling resistance is achieved by reducing the starting thread depth of the tire. So clearly, a 10/32 tire will have higher rolling resistance to begin with than a 8/32 or 6/32 tire. That's certainly one feature that affects rolling resistance. However, the materials used in tire construction, tire...

Re: Thinking of buying a one owner 2014

That's really good information! The example in that video has a capacity of 18.8 kwh. Of course, higher is better, but what's the consensus on where one should turn away? Would 12 correspond to ~60% of remaining capacity, etc? 18.8 kWh is the nominal new usable capacity of a 60 Ah battery pack and ...
