Turned in my car at lease end - Final Comments

Greetings - My two year i3 ReX lease ended, and my car is back in BMW's possession. During my lease I put about 12,500 miles on the car. I live in a temperate climate and my EV range varied considerably based on temperature. Despite BMW's 71 mile estimated range my real mileage was 50-55 in cooler w...

Before you buy or lease an i3 Be Aware of the Tire Problem

Less than two years ago I leased 1 2014 BMW i3 ReX for a two year term of 20,000 miles. I've owned 11 BMW cars/motorcycles over the years, had owned three Toyota Prius' and a Nissan Leaf and decided to get the i3 instead of a Tesla since most of my driving would be local. A few months ago I had to r...

The Honeymoon is Over - Lease Near An End - BEWARE!

Greetings - Some background may be helpful. I leased my BMW i3 ReX for two years, making a single up front payment for the total lease covering 20K miles. My ReX replaced the BEV i3 I originally leased 6 months prior to getting the ReX. The original car advertised a 70 mile range, but in my climate ...

Seems Like Mercedes has an Answer for the i3 (Humor)

A friend just told me he placed an order for his new Mercedes EV.

I wonder how Tesla 3 Buyers will react to losing tax credit

Like many I considered the Tesla and wish them well. Any EV is welcome as far as I'm concerned. I'm also impressed with the early deposits for the new model 3. What hasn't been discussed much is the Federal Tax credit situation. Tesla, like everyone else, will lose the $7500 tax credit after 200,000...

Re: Wholesale prices

I just had my car appraised at CarMax. I did it because I live in a state that charges property tax on vehicles. They assessed my car @$37K and I complained that it was too high. The tax assessor said that if I take it to CarMax and bring back the written appraisal they will accept that as "wholesal...

Re: I need to drive over 150 miles one way routinely - Ideas

The DVD upgrade does not yet unlock the extra gas tank, but installation was a snap. Tomorrow I plan to leave my home with a full charge, start the ReX at 75% capacity, drive until the fuel tank is empty. Refill the tank as needed to reach my destination, keeping the battery charge as high as possib...

Re: I need to drive over 150 miles one way routinely - Ideas

Thank you for your help. I ordered the DVD InMotion Rex unlock package. Hopefully it will do the job. I've become spoiled with the i3 - so much better than my Leaf, and not as large as the Tesla. Seems about ideal. Now if I can get it to handle my driving needs all will be well.

Re: I need to drive over 150 miles one way routinely - Ideas

Thanks for the replies - My car is a 2014 with the fast charger option. Despite this feature my driving pattern is to drive 150-175 miles to my destination, and return back to my starting point typically in 2-3 hours after arrival. The destination has no charging options, not even 120V. So maintaini...

I need to drive over 150 miles one way routinely - Ideas?

Greetings - Since leasing my i3 Rex my needs have changed and I now routinely have to drive over 150 miles one way. I've been renting cars to make this ride, especially since I often have to return the same day. This is getting very frustrating, and I've thought about turning the car in early, but t...
