I've had it

I have a 2014 i3 BEV. My opinion of this car has gone steadily downhill since taking delivery in Jan. 2015. 1. The ride is ridiculously harsh. It reminds me a bit of the Morgan I had over 50 years ago. Ok, it's not as bad as the Morgan, but it's bad. 2. The performance in the snow is awful. I have a...

Re: A/C off but blowing cold air

There's a lot about this car that, in my opinion, is overly complicated, overly automated. The automatic rear-view mirror is ridiculous. I just want the mechanical lever so I can flip the mirror myself. But no, BMW thinks we won't buy the car if we have to do that much work (and they might be right...

Re: A/C off but blowing cold air

So with the temperatures (and humidity) starting to dip, I'm trying to use less A/C and gain more range. However, the last few times that I've pressed the A/C button off and opened the window, I still find cold air blowing out of the vents. It seems that if I turn the HVAC system completely off (fa...

Re: Is BMW QA an oxymoron?

Great Man also said, “a person who never made a mistake never tried anything new.” With the i3, BMW has tried something very new, perhaps something revolutionary (CFRP construction), and you’re driving the first iteration. I’ve had some problems with my BEV and don’t meant to sound like a BMW apolo...

Is BMW QA an oxymoron?

I have a 2014 i3 BEV on which I took delivery last January. The car is now in the shop for the second time in a week, this time to replace the EME, because it won't accept a charge from my Clipper Creek HCS-40 or the 120v charger (both report 'Charging fault', indicating a ground fault). The BMW dea...

Re: Door reflectors falling out; airco fails

By opening the door at the driver side, the red reflector fell out. Two days later the same happened at the passenger side. I have had exactly the same problem -- both reflectors broke. There is clearly a design bug in this part. Would anyone like to take a guess on what BMW charges for this $.15 p...

Re: BMW i3 REX - Taking too long to charge on Maximum Settin

Some pedantry: kWh (kilowatt hour) and kW (kilowatt) are regularly confused on this forum. This is akin to confusing miles with miles per hour. If someone asks what the i3's top speed is, you wouldn't answer "93 miles". The rate at which a charger provides power is measured in kilowatts. Since watt...
