Re: Battery PreConditioning - Battery Life

More the opinion of a poster than a reliable source. He was annoyed that his very clever charging point can cope with him setting a cheap ToU 30 minute* cost to charge his i3 but cannot cope with battery pre-conditioning which, in his opinion, is vital to long term battery life. I confess that this ...

Battery PreConditioning - Battery Life

I am a 5 year i3 owner. I have just seen a post on another forum that suggests that battery pre-conditioning is essential to battery long term life. I will put my 'hands up' and say that most of my 60Ah i3 journeys were runs out locally. If range wasn't an issue, then I would take the car cold. When...

Re: i3 s regenerative breaking

It was also possible to tailgate the car behind if ACC disconnected in low sun and the accelator pedal wasn’t fully guarded. I recall that the firmware update was rolled out in Autumn/Fall 2015.

Re: Loss of Propulsion - EME Module 120Ah

My i3 EME module replacement was carried out over two days earlier this week. I confess that it was a little unsettling taking in a fault free i3 for such major surgery. The i3 is now back on my drive, and the brand new 330D M series tourer - complete with every toy imaginable - which they gave me a...

Loss of Propulsion - EME Module 120Ah

My i3 has just been recalled for this problem. I have not seen any reports on this or other forums of owners having experienced any loss of propulsion issues. I would be interested to know how the car behaved etc? The parts needed are now on back order and should be available early October. Repairs ...

Re: Traction battery warranty

As BMW chooses not to provide battery information after each service, I suspect that this type of concern will increasingly emerge as batteries get closer to their end of warranty period. I confess that I have always gone on range. When I sold my 2015 i3Rex in March this year, I hadn't seen any rang...

Re: Off Peak Charging - i3 120Ah BEV

Update: By a process of elimination, I seem to have discovered a bug in the charging software (or it may be by design). I have deleted all my Home information from the BMW Digital Charging Service, and I have reverted to setting off-peak/delayed charging in the car. When I came to set it up last nig...

Re: Off Peak Charging - i3 120Ah BEV

Thanks Jim. I would seem that owners are getting more consistent off-peak charging by using the settings in the car rather than the App. As of 1 July this year, all new EV chargers in the UK have to be smart enabled which gets around having to set anything but 'charge immediately' in the car. Sadly,...

Re: Off Peak Charging - i3 120Ah BEV

If only. I have a 7.4kW charger. I set delayed charging with a departure time of 0430 am. The car required 17.3kWhs to charge to 100% according to the DCS log. Charging appears to have started at about 11pm last night. My off-peak period starts at 0030am. All the charging should have been within the...

Off Peak Charging - i3 120Ah BEV

A question for those who use 'off peak' charging. I am finding that setting the car up for 'off -peak' charging can be a bit hit and miss. My 'off- peak' window is 0030 to 0430am. It's a new i3 so I have access to The Digital Charging Service but no Wallbox. I can set the car up to charge via the Ap...
