Re: Seat Belt Pilling/Fraying?

It may be worth to check out the manual to see if seat belt has a different warranty period from the general bumper to bumper 4 years warranty. Many manufacturer has different warranty term for seat belt. My 1996 Honda has a lifetime warranty on seatbelt. Or next time when you stop by your BMW deale...

Temp overnight dropped to teens and single digit with windchill. In the morning when I needed to do a quick errand run (less ...

Re: What to get done/checked before end of warranty?

Hi Mike, I made the mistake of not knowing these items before my warranty ended. Here is a list from mine vehicle: 1) the shock absorber boots at the front are mostly torn apart, you can do a visual inspection behind the front wheel. Those boots are to cover the shock when it expands and retracts. 2...

EV Li-ion battery lost 10% while parked for 4 hours

2014 BEV Giga model. This morning I parked my car after dropping off kids to school (2 mile round trip) with about 80% battery level left. When I got into the car 4 hours later, the battery level is at 68%. The weather is around 40 degree F and I drove with Eco Pro + unless weather dropped to freezi...

Re: Finally obtained Nokian Hakkapeliitta R3's

My 2014 BEV has Bridgestone Blizzak LM-500 and I do not feel much regen difference after I swapped them in January. The regen is about the same strength and I am still able to stop on a flat service like before without using resistive brake. The only thing I notice is there is a whining tire/road no...

Re: new household plug for level 1 charging - how many amps?

get the level 1 (120 v AC) plug in 20 amps, especially it is a new install which the cost different between 15 amps and 20 amps is almost nothing. You can set the charging to maximum without any issue.

Re: DCFS Level 3 charging not reliable

The folks in the Harley store is pretty nice and they don't mind any other EV to charge either. That station is charging 10 cents/min with 24kW output. the cost is reasonable, if it actually works. They don't know why it does not work for the i3 either, and suggest me to contact Chargepoint for supp...

Re: How long do you plan to keep your I3?

Dear frictioncircle, Thanks for the tips and sharing your experience. I will call up BMW genius Monday to see if they can help about the DCFC charging issue. My local BMW doesn't do anything goodwill since they need cash in the maintenance dept all the time. They were looking to sell me an oil chang...

Re: How long do you plan to keep your I3?

I planned to keep my 14' BEV, about 50K mile, (turning 5 years old in Dec) till it falls apart. The resell value is so low that there is no point to sell or trade. The GOM is now reading 60miles in Comfort mode (80 in eco+) measured in 90 degree day in summer. My other ICE (Nissan and Lexus) are 23 ...

DCFC Level 3 charging not reliable

Have a 2014 BEV with DCFC option. Have not been able to experience Level 3 DC charging during the first 4 years when vehicle is still under warrantee. Recently there are some DCFC station (managed by chargepoint) popping up in my area. Station A (from a Jaguar dealer): After account authorization an...
