Re: Is REx worth it?

i3 is a "series hybrid" where the engine never drives the wheels directly, it is used only as a generator. This architecture introduces additional drivetrain losses.

Re: Is REx worth it?

I replaced a 60AH REX with a 90AH BEV and never looked back. i3 isn't a good hybrid. The engine is annoyingly loud and buzzy, the fuel economy isn't great. If you look around this forum, you'll see that engine is one of the most problem prone components.

Re: Charting Battery Capacity/ State of Health Over Multiple Years

Thanks for sharing.
Did you notice any practical change in the range after the update?
How do you collect the data? With so many points it has to be automated. I graphed the data through BMW Connected and smart home software for a while, but BMW stopped reporting Batt. Kappa Max through the API.

BEV! BMW range ratings are rather conservative. Although you might run into a problem if the weather is very cold and your speed is high.

Re: Regen braking question on newer models (2017+) and quidzel?

I have Quidzel on 2018. The one pedal driving still works, and is even better than before, as explained by eNate.

Re: i3 Hate

See, the Chrysler haters are even here! Chrysler is certainly not the most reliable brand, but I have to tell you, Pacifica is very nice (when it runs :D ) It is the only PHEV minivan on the market. With its interior space, features, ride quality and fuel economy it is a perfect complement for i3. O...

Re: i3 Hate

Tesla fanboys can be quite rabid, especially if all their savings are in TSLA. I experience the opposite. I moderate a Chrysler Pacifica forum, and Chrysler haters are quite common. They own this van only because of its unique features.

Re: To I3 REx or not to I3 REx?

From years on this forum it seems that the REX is responsible for a significant amount of complaints. I used to lease a 15 REX and rarely used, the tank lasted an entire year. i3 isn't a good gas car- it is noisy and the fuel economy isn't that good. Typical driving distances in Europe are shorter, ...

Re: PART DIY HOME 32A CHARGER INSTALLATION

I installed a 14-50 outlet myself. It wasn't hard as my electric panel was close to garage, I needed about 6' of cable. After that I called an electrician to legalize this work and get it inspected by the county. He charged $180 (6 years ago), so maybe I didn't save much by DIY. But I needed all per...
