Re: Drivetrain issue - "Do not switch off engine"

Hi Brian

Hope you get it sorted. The central locking thing sounds like the suicide door issue discussed here: http://www.mybmwi3.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=572 except that after 6600 miles you've probably sussed that by now!

Interesting 3-series/Lotus/i3 combo you have there :)

Re: Wood Dash Panels

I wonder how they'd look with a carbon fibre coating, or something along those lines. I had the interior trim on my other car done to spruce it up a bit from the original grey plastic, by these chaps http://www.wickedcoatings.co.uk.

Re: Adaptive Cruise Control - any good?

The brochure says "STANDARD EQUIPMENT HIGHLIGHTS Cruise control with braking function-Maintains a pre-selected distance from the car in front, reacts to stationary vehicles and automatically controls the speed through to a standstill." I have seen the video on the ACC but no feedback to exactly wha...

Re: Adaptive Cruise Control - any good?

Standard CC will brake to get you back to your set speed if you're going down a hill (although with regen I can't imagine a slope steep enough), but it won't maintain the gap. Only ACC will brake to a standstill if the car in front does.

Re: Slight clonk soon after turning on

Ole from the Facebook group, an engineer, agrees that it's a brake check. His explanation (slightly edited for clarity): "...the i3 has an automatic brake washing system that maintains brake operations at all times - it will do a massive pump on every wheel (rotating with one wheel at a time) on the...

Re: Charger Locking and Timer

When you turn the car off, the goodbye screen gives you the option to go into charging settings, so it's very easy.

Re: Customer Treatment

At least we on this side of the pond haven't had issues with California's green/white stickers, small REx fuel tanks (or are they?), missing Monroney stickers, and a tax rebate on the REx that might get taken away in NJ.

Re: What Car? BMW i3 long-termer

Looks like we could get four or five peeps here, which would be a good start. Perhaps other prospective owners could come along anyway via 'conventional' transport - a good opportunity to meet those who are already running the car, and get a good look around different examples? I'm thinking of a da...

Re: What Car? BMW i3 long-termer

I'm wondering, would any owners be interested in a meet-up that we could then feature editorially in What Car? If there's enough interest then we could have it here at our offices (which have three or four 32A chargers, so people could juice up while they're here). We're based in Teddington, south-...

Re: Slight clonk soon after turning on

I did speak to a chap once who'd run over his own cat on his drive in his Lexus hybrid :(

No, this sounds like a big relay or solenoid kicking in, I'd say.
