Being a BMW i3 owner in Turkey

Due to different marketing strategies, different climates, different tax systems and even different cultures, every region or country probably have some specific problems about their EV to discuss. That is why I wonder if there is anyone from Turkey here to share our experiences with each other. Tha...

Re: Can I upgrade my 2017 battery to 2020?

i3 curb weights are all over the place. When we bought our 2014 BEV, its curb weight was listed as 2,634 lb. on the BMW USA Website. InsideEV's and WikiPedia list it as 2,635 lb. Comparing curb weights of various model years would include the weight of items that might have been optional in early y...

Re: Can I upgrade my 2017 battery to 2020?

The actual battery tray, to my understanding, has not changed since original introduction. The rear springs and maybe shocks have changed as the weight changed. So, it's not just swapping out the battery modules, otherwise, the vehicle may not sit at the ideal level that could affect the ride and h...

Re: Beating a dead horse... single vendor TIRES!

After a long investigation and comparison period, last Saturday I've finally bought new set of tires for my i3s! I had no concerns about the tires when I bought my former EV, i3 '14. I tested the car and came into conclusion that the tires compensate their slim dimensions with a stickier compound th...

Re: Speed sensor...

That difference is nearly 3%...normally, they expect the tire sizes to be within 2%, so you may have some logic issues for the traction control, not counting the speedometer and odometer readings. Hmm... Thanks a lot for that info... With a short net search I saw plenty of people who messed up with...

Re: Speed sensor...

I would expect the traction control system to freak out if rear tires have a significantly different circumference than the front tires. I am thinking to keep original size at the front (175/55R20) and change the rear tyre's side wall by only 5" (55, instead of 50). This is because the 195/55R20 ha...

Speed sensor...

Hi everyone, Does anyone knows how i3 detects its speed? From a single wheel, two front wheels average or two rear wheels average? The reason I am asking is that to learn what happens if I have different wheel diameters at the front & rear axles. I know lower diameter will show higher number on scre...

Re: Potenza S001 tires instead of Ecopia EP500?

Hi everyone, I would like to share my experiences about that subject. Until now, I did not use S001 to compare it with EP500, but I experienced something different... I've used a 2014 i3 for 47.500 kms with 19' tomahawk wheels & stock EP500 tyres. The handling of the car was quite strange comparing ...

Re: Flat towing a BMWi3 ?

Last friday my battery got empty appx. 8km to my home. It was a snowy day, some people with summer tyres blocked the road & we stuck in a highway exit for 4 hrs... grrr... Anyways it did happen & the day after I made a quick search on the net. I saw this thread, bookmarked it and know I am ready to ...
