Anyone try rust-free rotor treatments?

Hi,

Rotor rust never bothered me but it was a new sound for my girlfriend. Still, it would be nice to get rid of it permanently. Has anyone tried the various aftermarket rotor treatments?

Re: Parasitic battery charge loss from cold temperatures?

I've tracked a decent amount of data on my car in the 2+ years I've had it and it definitely seems like battery capacity declines faster in the cold (thread here: https://www.mybmwi3.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=17163 ). That's looking at capacity though... I haven't looked into state of charge b...

Parasitic battery charge loss from cold temperatures?

Has anyone tried to map the battery Ahr loss vs temperature? We've had exceptionally low temperatures in Dixie, 15F (-10C) and noticed the battery SOC % has significantly gone down overnight. We have a new driver and one hypothesis is failure to turn car off with a second power button press. However...

Re: Strange BMW e-mail

I agree but would add it hasn't been until recently that batteries and power electronics began to approach what was needed with steel+aluminum bodies. Yet the traditional maker EVs continue to make less efficient and overweight. They really haven't adopted EV design rules.

Re: Strange BMW e-mail

If BMW sent me an e-mail with an offer for a larger capacity battery for my 2014 BMW i3-REx, a reasonable price, I would consider it. But offering those 'boat anchors' was not not going to work.

Re: Strange BMW e-mail

If those BMW, plug-in hybrids meet your needs, great. In contrast, our 2017 Prius Prime, 25 mi EV, became 'driveway art.' I would take the BMW i3-REx, a 10-stop car, over the Prius Prime, a 3-stop car. We traded in the Prius Prime for our Tesla Model 3 and got $18.3k. But that was not the reason beh...

Strange BMW e-mail

Hi, On Friday I got an e-mail from "BMW of North America <mail@msg.bmwusa.com>" that has a GIF of several huge, plug-ins that are the antithesis of our BMW i3-REx: Starts with a hand on a J1772 plug 330e driving X3 30e driving X5 45e driving open road Owner of a 2019 Tesla Std Rng Plus Model 3 and 2...

Re: Trying to find key fob pairing instructions

Thank you!

This makes sense. I'll stop by a local locksmith this morning. I wanted to avoid buying the ~$600 BMW fob but it sounds like the system is pretty well locked down even for owners.

Re: Trying to find key fob pairing instructions

The seller reported 'find a locksmith.' <GERRRR>

I tried to access BMW TIS but my Macs don't have the Internet Explorer they report is needed. Has anyone taken a deep dive into BMW TIS to see if it is documented?
