Re: Pedestrian warning Noise , in reverse

Agreed it should be switchable... There are two things 1) it depends on where you live and if you park in schools, transit stations etc 2) ICE has this custom, when starting the engine, it has built in audio warning sign. it cannot be turned off. Over the years , this warning has become a expectatio...

Re: Pedestrian warning Noise , in reverse

So in short, my i3 2017 USA model is not likely to have this hardware - correct ?

The sound which the Nissan leaf makes is quite pleasant, it is not disturbing, and gets the job done very well in my opinion

Re: Loss of Power in Real Life after 30 seconds

"The 120 Ah battery pack is only 40 kg (88 lb) heavier than the 60 Ah battery pack, only a 17% increase. That's not a significant difference." This is very interesting. Given the big drop of the Rex fuel economy from 39 Mpeg ( 2014) to 31 Mpeg (2019), it looks like the 40Kg is making a huge differen...

Off Road in i3

So , When i drive the i3 on the small country uneven and imperfect roads, i can literately feel each of the individual tires going up and down. Literally it feels like i am driving a 4*4 over the rocks on a riverbed. I was wondering, how will the car actually perform in such situations, given it has...

Re: Loss of Power in Real Life after 30 seconds

Hmm, So first lesson, Dont be overconfident, when you start to race ICE cars.... (within the safe limits of tire adhesion, of course!), :-) The shorter, the better for you at lower starting speeds , The Longer it lasts, or at higher speeds, ICE start to fight back.. 2nd, technically , you motioned 2...

Missing EPA numbers for Rex City/Highway

Noticed, the Rex numbers for EPA fuel economy keep going down from 2016 -39 2017 - 35 2019- 31 I am very curious why i3 Rex is the only NEW fuel efficient car in USA with missing separate numbers for Highway and City Perhaps we can pull them numbers from some other country or WLTP ???? separate for ...

Re: Loss of Power in Real Life after 30 seconds

Climbing up a steep grade like 6-8% at a speed of 80 ( normal traffic speed) , does need a lot of flooring...... :D

Loss of Power in Real Life after 30 seconds

Since the max power of the car is only available for i think 30 seconds or so ( don't remember numbers from the book) , after which i think the motor overheats etc i Was thinking, if any one experienced it in real life , say while driving up a steep grade at high speed etc, after some time , the pic...

Re: lack of power from stop so annoying

In i3 acceleration did not keep pace with the increases in battery, so the bottleneck is the motor in fact , added weight reduced performance. while in most others, bigger battery increased performance , as mostly bottleneck is battery For the reference Heat dissipation is a major issue . from what ...

Re: L2 fast vs slow charge ~ battery life

Thanks Art, When i said Summers vs Winters, i was mainly referring to the temperature of the battery As some videos of Tesla suggest, the car tries hard to increase battery temp , while charging, even if that means efficiency is lowered by generating heat. Apparently Batteries like to be charged whe...
