Re: Torn dust cover - shock absorber

It's definately covered under approved BMW warranty. I claimed on my wife's i3 REx at under 3 years old. The covers aren't particularly robust, so expect 2 years out of them maximum. Double check the foam bump stop inside hasn't disintegrated. If it has you'll see it's dropped down from the top moun...

Re: Rear brake disc and pad change

Got prices back from BMW. I'm inclined to replace the sensor. The last one has been on 5 years, and the service desk say it's best practice to replace. It's only a £20 GBP part.

All in for discs, pads and sensor £217.22 GBP or $283.00! :o

I know - and I've still to fit em!

Re: Windows and Sunroof Open Without Reason

Suspect if the fob has been in your pocket this can happen. I was washing cars a couple of weeks ago and it happened to me. Luckily caught it in time. If you hold unlock on the fob long enough it will wind down the windows and open the sunroof. In addition if you lock it it will close everything. We...

Re: Rear brake disc and pad change

Thanks for the replies. Here's pictures of the discs. The pads still have some miles left on them, but if I'm changing the discs, I'll renew the lot. Like I said, this is 60k miles, road salt and regenerative braking taking its toll. https://ibb.co/sw2gV35 https://ibb.co/YLkMChd I'll check the brake...

Rear brake disc and pad change

Okay, so my wife's i3 REx (2015) is at 60k miles and the rear discs have seen better days. Passed MOT earlier this month, but when I was switching over onto winter tyres had a proper look at them. I've changed the discs and pads on my A4 Allroad with an electric parking brake, so use VCDS software. ...

Re: Suspension top mounts

Ordered the new mount from Autodoc (Germany). Now just waiting for the motivation to change it. Had 4-6 weeks of car work across my VW, Audi, and daughter's Fiat 500, so in no rush to get under a car any time soon!

Re: Service threat from BMW Canada

I don't think their email is particularly threatening. You'll find most of these emails are auto-generated based on data they keep for air conditioning service, brake fluid change, etc. Most of their service desk staff know nowt about cars. As long as you keep service record, receipt of BMW parts, y...

Suspension top mounts

Just serviced my wife's i3 REx at 50k miles. Pollen filter, oil and filter change and the dreaded front suspension dust gaiters. I think they were done under warranty 2 years ago. That's poor to be changing them already. The parts are a few pounds, but main BMW dealer will take your kidney as paymen...

Re: Sold the car

Best of luck to you Mick. Returning to a 1.0 litre will be hard to swallow. You're probably right though. Owning a BMW electric vehicle outside warranty is like handing out blank cheques. I just serviced my wife's 15 plate i3 REx at 50k miles. Starting to show its age. I do what I can, but parts are...

Re: Alloys paint blistering

My wife i3 has these wheels which have winter tyres and are on the car from around October to April. Purchased new last year and no sign of any corrosion yet. That said, she also has summer tyres on 428 diamond cut turbine alloys. White worm or corrosion under the lacquer had started from the centre...
