Re: Mystery Steering Noise

On a 2020 model it will still be under warranty. Not completely unheard of for a coil spring to shear and lose an inch or so, so it twangs and knocks. Upper mounts are well documented, but I doubt they would need replaced yet. Water, road salt and grit gets thrown up in the wheel well and the steel ...

Re: Charging issue

So car was dead before as in zero charge, you replaced 12v battery, but car won't accept charge now?

I could be barking up the wrong tree, but worth a shout. Read this: viewtopic.php?t=17186

Re: Moved to snow country - Need i3 snow tire knowdedge

It's the same rims front and rear. In Scotland I put them on October through to April. Not near the car so can't confirm the size, but we opted for 19" rims and winter tyres, rather than swapping out summer tyres every year onto the same rims. The winter wheels are powder coated, which is just as we...

Re: Problem with roof peeling

If that is a protective film, and it looks suspiciously glossy, where as the OEM carbon fibre is more of a satin finish. Check the roof near the front windshield and see if there's an edge. You can probably use a hairdryer or hot air gun (obviously taking care not to work the area too long) to remov...

Re: Big Brake Kit for i3 ?

Don't fit oversized brakes, the BMW original brake set up is more than sufficient to the task, given how this car operates with regenerative braking. All you're doing is adding unnecessary weight.

Re: Problem with roof peeling

Wow, that's bad. It looks like it's literally cooked, either that or the roof has been repaired before?

The roof is carbon fibre with what I assume is a clear coat lacquer. I think the only way to fix that would be to sand the whole roof and apply a 2k clear coat again to seal.

Re: Rex Problem!

Change the fuel pump relay. Even if it's good that's a relatively inexpensive fix. Here's my tale of drama to convince you. viewtopic.php?f=13&t=16949

Re: PDC sensors, front fender

Frictioncircle - good to hear from you. I suspect the bodyshop just cut corners on the repair, and instead of detaching at each sensor it got yanked out, possibly by accident. Either that or it was subject to damage?

Is that it fixed now?

Our 2016 was getting a bit stiff in the steering. It was determined to need upper strut mounts. After replacing them, the steering is back to normal.
That's a good call. ;)

Link here to when I did the job, and a great video from Bjorn.

Re: Steering issue

Hit any potholes recently? If there's any friction on the steering you really want to get that checked out as matter of urgency from a safety point of view. Keep us posted as to the outcome.
