Re: Seasucker Monkey Bars rack on i3

Search for Kayak Rollers on ebay. I bought 4 of these for far less than sea sucker. I have hauled a complete small shower stall and at another time 12 -8' 2X6s on the roof.... a bit more weight than I liked, but it worked.

The roof is carbon fiber, not metal.

Re: Charging to 80% capacity

No. The BMS takes care of that for you. There is an upper and lower battery buffer. Why add more buffer, and thus reduce range?

Re: i3 Roof Rack Suggestions

I purchased 4 kayak rollers from ebay. That's 8 suction cups. Much cheaper option. I cut down 2 of them and used pieces of straight 1/2" copper pipe instead of the taller bent tubing that came with them. I put the 2 short ones in the front and the 2 unaltered ones in the rear so that the load t...

Re: Long-term Storage Results

Nice response, but: "so why store an i3 fully charged when doing so isn't necessary?" Because there is no such thing as a fully charged i3 battery, perhaps? I would trust the battery management software to take care of it. Of course, you might be on to something with the 12 volt battery......

Re: To I3 REx or not to I3 REx?

We are just heading out on our 100th (or so) 350 mile round day-trip in our 2015 REX, so I don't have time to comment on whether or not they are good for that : ) Maximum in one day: 515 miles in winter conditions.

Re: Can I charge my i3 always on DC up to 80%?

Do not worry about managing your charging. The car does it for you. It has a buffer at the top and will not let you charge to a true 100%. Just plug it in and leave it. DC fast charging every day for years might cause some degradation, but it is not worth worrying about in my opinion. The advice you...

Re: Very loud REX - any solutions?

"During my test drive at this deal, the battery was about 2%." This is beyond ridiculous. No person in their right mind would try to sell an EV that was not charged up and ready to go. This is like looking at a gas guzzler for sale with an empty fuel tank and a gallon of gas in a can in th...

Re: Very loud REX - any solutions?

Also, that dealer must not want to sell the car if they don't keep it fully charged while on the lot.... either that, or they are just ignorant about EVs.

Re: Very loud REX - any solutions?

Your REX should not come on automatically unless you are below about 8% battery, or it needs to run a maintenance cycle from not being used for about two months or so. In any event, they are NOT very noisy when sitting unless it has been run very hard for a while and then you stop.... whereupon it w...
