Re: Using Tesla Destination Chargers with an adapter for your i3?

On the question of AC vs DC my owner’s handbook specifically describes DC fast charging as recommended for quickest charging, AC if you’re at home/overnight domestic charging.
My dealer just confirmed I can use Tesla chargers here - I’ll try it but maybe not in front of my local Tesla showroom!

Re: Using Tesla Destination Chargers with an adapter for your i3?

I just picked up my new 2018 i3s and will mainly charge it overnight at home, for use around the city of Sydney. However for longer journeys, the best infrastructure in Australia is that of Tesla Superchargers and my supplying BMW dealer tells me I can use them. 2018 i3 has a compatible connector wi...

Re: My '15 Stormtrooper

Totally agree - the real problem is the roof and white would be so much better. It’s also true that as far as the interior temperatures after standing in the sun are concerned, colour is largely irrelevant. However, touching a black panel (door, frunk etc.) will feel much hotter than touching a whit...

Re: My '15 Stormtrooper

I really wanted white: it makes so much sense here in Australia where, until recent years, nearly every car was white to reflect the sun’s heat. And it’s such a tiny car, you need a light colour to increase your visibility to other road users. But the dealer quoted me $3500 to respray the bonnet and...

Re: Under trunk cubby

Carbon fibre would be awesome - great idea. As far as the strength in rear end collisions is concerned, well the steel (I assume) panel might only be bolted down but those bolts are in sheer and the panel is in compression giving very high strength in the horizontal plane with little bending. Also w...

Re: Apple CarPlay

When I ordered my car (Nov. 2017) in Sydney, the Apple CarPlay option was $623 inc GST tax. I decided that was poor value and declined. The salesman said he didn’t blame me, ‘cos you can load it yourself for free!
If it can be done, I will and report back to the forum.

Re: Under trunk cubby

Thanks for the info about Wolfgang’s work. I’ve emailed him to get a shipping price - I wouldn’t be deterred by what he’s asking for the part itself and it looks well developed. One issue that would stop me ever selling one in the US (and ought to stop anyone selling them anywhere else, except we ha...

Under trunk cubby

Hi! I’m a new member! I have a 2018 i3s on order for delivery here in Sydney in a few weeks time and, as a retired auto engineer (GM then Ford) and competent CAD designer/3D modeler I have a plan to improve the trunk space. I’m not getting the REX version so there’s heaps of space under that floor i...
