Re: Brake fluid replacement

Especially with the rest of the vehicle being rustproof (CFRP, etc.) and long-lasting, I would be inclined to maintain the brake lines well. I would be looking to get twice the life of a normal (metal) car out of this, with a battery and strut/spring upgrade at some point, as needed.

Re: Brake fluid replacement

I am curious about the difference between brake fluid in an unopended can and the same in a sealed brake system. Specifically I would be interested to know if there are points of entry for moisture to enter the brake system. Or could moisture creep into an unopened can as well over time? I heard som...

Re: Charge Percentage

If you are at 100% and start going down hill, you have used no appreciable percentage of the battery before braking is required. I understand this. I was wondering about when NOT going downhill. IOW, when all the momentum would have been drawn from the battery which should create the room for regen...

Re: Charge Percentage

I am confused by the regen not working if the car started with 100% SOC. Wouldn't the regen charge be always less than what was taken from the battery to begin with, to get the car moving (unless one starts with a downhill right after charging to 100% SOC), thus always leaving a buffer for regen?

Re: Broken mounts? what that whine?

I understand the new mount in the background is the replacement for the old plastic mount, but I am a little confused by the mount in the foreground. Do I understand correctly that it is the mount for the other side of the motor? If so, does it show a broken bolt in the pic or simply a bolt that was...

I see that Walmart carries those and there is a Walmart located conveniently about 40 miles into my trip.
If you are planning so tightly, I would pre-purchase the can online for pickup at that specific walmart location; sometimes they might be out of the cans.

Re: Bimmercode hold state of charge.

I regularly set hold at 75% and run until I am out of gas and keep driving on electric until I get to a convenient gas station. Totally seamless, and means I am not stopping as often for gas if gas stations are annoyingly spaced. Like "do I stop at this gas station with 30 mi gas range (and 50 mi e...

i3's standard cruise control doesn't brake for a slower vehicle ahead.
I was initially thrown off by the 544 description as well, but it looks like the "braking" referred to is about "keeping the set speed", not braking in response to a vehicle in the front slowing down.

Re: What option should I look for to insure that emergency braking is installed?

Hi Art,

I have been primarily looking at 2017s and 544 seems to show up in many I see . For example, the below listed 2017 doesn't have 5AT (Driving assistant plus) but has 544 on mdecoder.com:

Re: What option should I look for to insure that emergency braking is installed?

Per the below, 544 simply means automatic cruise control. https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1328181 which makes me wonder if one should have the ACC option (Tech package) to get emergency braking. That's correct. However, there is no option number for the Tech + Driving Assist Pack...
