Re: AC Button light flickering

I had an issue with the AC button light flickering as well. It was due to a bad connection and I got it fixed under warranty. I think it is a common problem.

Re: BMW i3 Hard Crash

I am glad your wife is ok. It is surprising that the airbags didn't go off. If you don't mind me asking, was there gas in the gas can? What brand was the gas can? It is impressive that it survived ok. This is the first time I have heard of an actual collision with a gas can in the frunk, though ther...

Re: New to me 15' REX Certified Pre Owned no start REX?

How do you use the Tourqe Pro app to restart the REX? Do you just clear the error codes and then it automatically tries again, or is there more to it?

Re: [RangeAnxiety] Survey research

Hi DarioFER, Do you consider an i3 REX an EV? These questions about stopping to charge on the way to work seem a bit strange. Driving to work is generally routine, and is probably not when one would experience range anxiety. Take my situation: work is 10 miles from home and I have a charger at home ...

Re: Tire issue is frustrating. Need help with spare options...

I bought a 20" front (more narrow) wheel off ebay and cut some foam to hold a jack, and 17mm socket+handle in the cavity of the rim and used VHB to mount a plastic puck that adapts to the BMW jack point. I wouldn't trust that connection if it had a lot of lateral force on it, but I suspect it would ...

Re: Using REX to charge batteries

You can use the smog/emissions test mode, but it requires leaving the back open, so it is only the kind of thing you would do if you are in a tough spot. This explains how to get the i3 into the emissions test mode: http://www.mybmwi3.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=2075 If you keep your foot on the ...

Re: I3 seats causing back pain ?

I also got an L5-S1 herniation a few months after getting my i3. It is hard to say if the i3 was a factor or not. When I had sciatica, sitting in the i3 definitely made the pain worse though. There are many lumbar support products that can be added to the car seat and I suggest trying some out if yo...

Re: Long Distance (400 miles) Rex Driving? Do I need to baby it?

If you get into a pinch, you could use the smog test to add SoC to the battery. If you hold your foot on the gas, it charges the battery quicker. Someone posted a charge rate they achieved on here, but I could not find it with a quick search. This explains how to get the i3 into the emissions test m...

Re: A Bolt owner has i3 regrets sometimes

Supposedly the i3's limited range was a result of the designer's desire to make a car that had a significantly smaller carbon footprint than an ICE vehicle: https://www.bmwblog.com/2017/09/28/bmw-explains-bmw-i3-didnt-get-bigger-battery-first/ “The basic idea, at least from the BMW Group perspective...

Re: Phoenix 2014 i3 in shop for battery health check.

I have not read that battery pack cooling is not active when an EVSE is plugged in but charging isn't active. However, if battery cooling or heating (a.k.a., preconditioning) could occur automatically anytime an EVSE is plugged in, there would be no need for the battery preconditioning function tha...
