Re: Tera and Smokers package

The ashtray makes a handy storage container. It’s a tall-ish cylinder not unlike a reusable cup with a flip top. Mine lives in the second cup holder under the armrest. I stash napkins and those long green splash sticks from Starbucks in mine.

Re: Brake fluid replacement

The two-year brake fluid replacement is required maintenance for all BMW models—not unique to the i3. Also worth noting that the two-year sequence starts with your vehicle’s manufacture date not the in-service date that triggers the warranty/maintenance plan period. My E90 3–series was assembled in ...

Re: Accessories Still Active

I believe the message appears if a door (either driver or passenger) is opened before pressing the Stop button a second time.

Re: Spare tire situation

Since I'm sure that nobody (outside of the BMW dealers) keeps the i3's unique tires in stock locally, I would just have it towed to my friendly local tire shop and get a ride home to grab another tire. (*) * When installing new tires on any vehicle, I always stash the best of the old ones in the ga...

Re: Sound System Problem

Did you import the contents of USB 1 or were you playing files directly off the USB drive?

Based on your description, I suspect the former. Go to the menu where you select the source and make sure you activate USB. Then you should be able to import the new tracks.

Re: Buying used 2014

Supposedly, California issues expiring carpool lane stickers for REx cars, and they cannot be renewed once they expire in a few years. (BEV cars supposedly get lifetime stickers.) I would imagine that the prices of those in California are lower, but not a concern outside of that state. Would shippi...

Re: First Impressions

The nav system reminds me of how wonderful Apple Carplay was. There's no distance to next turn or estimated time of arrival. Did I miss a setting? That info is available in the arrow view. Cycle through the view options using the left menu on the map screen. In addition, you can turn on additional ...

Re: CCS stayed locked

In my experience, the CCS unit controls connector locking not the i3. Most likely the connector you were using had some sort of mechanical failure since the emergency stop didn’t unlock it. (I’ve experienced CCS connectors that won’t lock but never the reverse.) BMW probably won’t be able to tell yo...

Re: EVgo CCS woes

I’ve been using EVgo CCS units regularly since they started appearing in the SF Bay Area in 2015. Initially the failure rate was minimal but over time it increased. To the point that by 2017, I was seeing about a 25% fail. Then EVgo replaced most of the cables/connectors and added the tension/retrac...

Re: Enabling iDrive Office.

It’s not a coding issue. With iDrive 5 and earlier, iPhones must be connected via a USB cable for most integrated functions, including the bulk of Office apps. BMW USA has a Bluetooth compatibility check tool. Most functions show a red X for my 2017 i3 with Pro Nav and iPhone X. https://www.bmwusa.c...
