Re: Anyone Use Apple Maps for Routing?

Now that I’ve got my ‘21, I’ve been looking into this issue because I’d prefer to stay in CarPlay. Found a thread on an Apple Developer board that indicates there’s an acknowledged bug in the SDK that prevents any EVs from connecting to Maps. https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/653328 The prob...

Re: new I3 REX owner. some questions. sorry.

Importing is easy once you understand the steps. 1. Copy music files to a FAT32 formatted USB flash drive. 2. Plug the flash drive into the car's port. 3. On the screen you'll see the flash drive as a source. Select it and the music will start to play. 4. While it's playing, you should see an option...

Re: Mileage Estimation

I learned not to really look at the GOM since it's guessing based on the last 14 or some similar number of miles. But inaccurate numbers aren't unique to the i3. My 328i has a miles to empty display that varies wildly. When I start in the city, I see about 200 miles or less per tank but out on the h...

Re: new I3 REX owner. some questions. sorry.

It's a VERY long thread, but this is a good starting point to learn about coding your i3 REx. https://www.mybmwi3.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=1616 That thread is great if a bit intimidating to this non-programmer. I did not attempt to code my 2014 and 2017 BEVs, in part because they were leased ...

Third One's A Keeper

I've been posting here for awhile having previously leased 2014 and 2107 BEVs. Thanks to pandemic-related work from home situation, I didn't see the point of paying to park a new one when the 17’s lease ended in 2020. We own a 2009 3-series so it’s not like we couldn’t get around. I figured I'd find...

Re: Best way to find 2019 Rex

I’ve been back in the market recently so have been in contact with a number of Bay Area dealers. I previously leased 2014 and 2017 BEVs so I have very specific equipment requirements. In the past few days, a couple emailed with news of price reductions. Pure conjecture on my part but maybe the marke...

Re: Dashboard controls

I'm not saying it has no affect rather the computer remains in control. Changing the intensity typically results in an immediate fan speed change. But when the set temperature is reached, the computer will alter air flow, air distribution, and/or incoming air temperature. In contrast during manual o...

Re: Dashboard controls

Unlike other manufacturers, BMW climate control systems have multiple Auto programs. They use the term intensity to describe the differences. Unfortunately the generation in the i3 uses the fan speed button to set/display intensity when Auto is engaged. The visual clue is a single LED that moves fro...

Re: Floor liners for i3 and i3s the same?

Similar. I bought the BMW all weather mats because my leased 2014 w/ Giga came with the pale mats, which looked great but would have been a nightmare during the NorCal rainy season. I kept them when I swapped into the 2017 w/ Tera. The dark mats weren’t so problematic during rainy months but I still...

Re: Sound proofing the motor sound?

Personally, I love the sound. For me, it's only noticeable when the accelerator is floored. Sound proofing would just add weight.
