Re: Brake fluid replacement

I was thinking every 3 years might good, and probably more than useful. Some manufacturers recommend every 3 years, some every 2 years. For BMW even their ICE cars, the recommended interval is every 2 years. As far as cost after the 4 year free maintenance agreement (not the 4 year warranty) has ex...

Re: Sunshades for the windshield that work

And I’ll try a roll up windshield shade. This one fits - but the seller has gotten a little pricey - when I bought mine a month or so ago, it was $31 - https://www.ebay.com/itm/Fit-BMW-i3-14-17-Custom-Made-Folding-Heat-Shield-Windshield-Sun-Visor-SunShade/332910178038?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&...

Re: metal to metal sound

Have your motor mount bolts been replaced? Early i3s had problems with bolts shearing in the plastic motor mounts, and there was a service bulletin to replace the bolts with larger ones, and a software update issues that prevented stress on the part by limiting 'wheel spin' when losing traction when...

Re: Air conditioning failed

cause was attributed to normal seasonal losses
No such thing. The AC is a closed system. The only way it loses pressure is through a leak. May be too small a leak to be easily detected through pressure testing, but it's there.

Re: Range/Battery Degradation - Data Requested

There seems to be an underlying "lawsuit-y" theme in the disclaimers of the survey.
Yeah, and using data from a subjective survey, with no actual standard empirical measurement base, to prove anything 'legally' is a real stretch.

Re: Spare tire situation

I guess I'll just have to drive one of the ICE vehicles in my driveway for a few days should I have to wait for tires to be shipped in an emergency.. For those of us with only one vehicle - most BMW dealers have the tires in stock, and Tirerack carries them, and ships to most areas next-day for fre...

Re: Spare tire situation

Works on most nail or screw in the tread portion of the tire. Actually, your tire pressure warning system will most often alert you to low pressure in a tire well before it goes flat from a screw or nail slow leak. Almost all of my flat tires in my previous car, showed up first thing in the morning,...

Unless your name is Volkswagen, in which case it'll cost you a couple billion bucks to build some desperately-needed public charging stations.
Yeah, deliberate fraud can get expensive

Re: Range/Battery Degradation - Data Requested

BMW's lawyers like the term "conform at the time of sale" in the warranty book, with a 2/24K federal conformance warranty that surely will be over on just about every 60 i3 by now. Yup, and what's the penalty if older cars fail to conform to their 'new car' ZEV certification? The auto manufacturer ...

Re: Range/Battery Degradation - Data Requested

Isn't ZEV Certification just for new cars manufactured?
